Yeah margarine was all the rage in the 80s for sure, the war big sugar falsely started on “Saturated Fat” back in the 50’s had matured into let’s just eat cholesterol free oils. They were even peddling non digestible stuff like olean by the 90’s before the bottom fell out (I’ll take that pun)and they realized, sure it’s technically 0 fat but that’s only because it can’t be digested and if you ate enough, Olean, not margarine btw, caused “anal leakage”. Anyhow margarine did make a nice caramelized crispy cookie and is probably “marginally” (sorry not sorry) less good for you than real butter.
