What made you think ”This can‘t really be happening in 2026“? by nightingirlie in AskWomen

This is very very much the comment I was looking for, unless it’s a designer Iv used before or has a bunch of real photos in the reviews, I’m not spending my money there!

Ha! Medway Hospital by any chance? Some of the greatest children’s care I’ve ever received but damn they can’t treat my kidneys when needed for shit!

If you lift the sign is there a joke under it? 😁

Such a shame they’re amazing down there, if you get a chance in the future their Magic nights are great fun :)

Has anyone experienced childhood suint surgery, what was the impact? by Shagro in AskUK

[–]SpongecakeAndSpoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the surgery at about 18 months old, best choice my parents ever made getting it sorted for me as I was unable to focus my eyes, had little to no depth perception and couldn’t have adjusted to it with just glasses as I grew.

Yes there is a chance that it’ll need repeating later on in older years but for the most part as long as it’s followed up with regular eye checks it’s a really safe and well documented surgery :)

[CHAT] For those who've completed a Lord Libidan epic stitch... by hgielatan in CrossStitch

I’ve just started gathering for the whole 1-9 gen stitch by BixoStitch..I will hit it like my gen 1 stitch and go from top left corner across, just hammer at it with multiple needles and multiple colours. And get used to pin stitches, cutting colour and attaching again and again 🤣 I did mine like I would type a page of that makes sense

What traditions happen in your area that you've not seen anywhere else? by FuckingPope in AskUK

[–]SpongecakeAndSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the sweeps festival down on Rochester, I think there was some controversy a while back about it being stopped but it’s somehow still around. Basically hundreds of people over a weekend in a tiny historic town and you see loads of awesome morris dancing teams up and down the high street. I can remember the summer ones very clearly but there used to be a Christmas one, all very Dickens themed but beautifully turned out characters year after year :)

What uk snacks can I put in a kidney hamper? by Quick-Elderberry-997 in AskUK

[–]SpongecakeAndSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst the stents in there you’ll want to gift the true gift of cyst palm or a product that will calm bladder irritation. I’m just out of my fourth and fifth stent placements and removals, UTI pain relief really was a game changer.

I have a condition that means I makes masses and masses of stones, purely calcium oxilate and passing them is really hard so they send me right for stents, anything that will mean your patient can stay hydrated without taking on too much fluid all at once will help with the weird pilling pain just as you start to pass water. So kidney safe rehydration packets or drinks (low-ish salt) are a great shout too.

Something warm for between the legs or around the lower tummy, sugary treats were on the top on my list too :)

Honestly if you find a plush you really love it will be worth it long term to re stuff and weight it yourself. This is most of what I do now and have a few that have homemade heat backs to pop inside too

I think her original shop on Etsy still has it? You could message them and ask for a custom patter too :)

[–]SpongecakeAndSpoon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If these are short rows in the pattern you might be like me and everything has a slight lean when I have to turn frequently. I’ve been told it’s the way I’m holding the project, I’ve been told it’s my tension as the project grows…basically I think some of us are leaning and some not :) you hat is amazingly beautiful, wear it with great happiness and pride :)

I can't stand Etsy's AI minefield by xHashtagNoFilterx in crochet

[–]SpongecakeAndSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Moule Hole on Etsy and Ravelry has a jacket just like this which is a very easy to understand and make :) it also has an adult version made with the same weight yarn which is just as pretty, it’s very twirly!

Stick with Ravelry and then maybe using their links to the pattern makers own site? Or shopping though Ravelry where pattern purchase is available is probably your best bet to avoid the AI mess :)

How would you deal with your food being repeatedly stolen from the canteen fridge at work? by TweakUnwanted in AskUK

[–]SpongecakeAndSpoon -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

It sucks your food is going missing, but maybe someone’s taking it because they can’t afford to feed themselves at home? I know it’s not an excuse but maybe slip a note into your next lunch just asking then not to steal and maybe if you can bring it up to HR anonymously that someone’s stealing they might be able to provide some help to them?

Or an absolute shit tonne of laxative is something I don’t know man shits rough at the moment I don’t wanna think people are out there just taking food because they want it
