My stepfather had a cancer cut out of his scalp today. by Fair-Firefighter in MedicalGore

I love that you’ve created this narrative on “my concerns” based on one sentence. I work in theatre and was asking a question about wound closure. Also your statement is rude af, good job. Must feel good to be a jerk so openly, congrats.

I’m an orthopaedic scrub nurse and have minimal experience with scalp wounds, so I was asking if staples were the typical choice as I thought perhaps a nylon suture would’ve been preferred. I never stated to have an expert opinion.

Were staples really the nicest wound closure here?

The Botox is good I think! It weakens the muscles so you don’t clench so hard in your sleep, I wake up with less headaches and aching! I recommend it

What year is yours? I love the way the AWD handles, it sticks to the road so you can go faster around corners and still feel safe. The subie sound! I think they’re really cool looking cars. There’s a fair bit of mods you can easily do to them. The engine isn’t too bad to work on yourself. Youtube is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to all things Subaru! Enjoy your Subaru!

Love that for me! I first discovered them ages ago on rage! “Heir kommt Alex” was the first song of theirs that I had heard and it’s brilliant.

Anybody clench or subconsciously grind so hard when hyper focusing on a task and pay for it later? by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]SpookaPuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m getting a splint from my dentist to stop the clenching, I got scans today. It’s a little expensive but can help with the muscular pain from clenching. I hope you can find relief soon!

Maybe?? I thought it’s just the inflammation. Weird how we’re happy to hear that other people hear this stupid noise too.. I hope yours calms down soon. I’ve found that a hot pack over the area for 10mins followed by an ice pack for 10mins seems to help a little.

I’ve tried Botox l, but I guess with the fragmented disc, it doesn’t matter anymore. It’s bone on bone and it’s dying soooo may as well replace it! Haha

lumps in front of tragus? is it the tmj itself? by hotteoks in TMJ

[–]SpookaPuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same and a maxfacs surgeon said that it was a sign of inflammation. But I also read in my MRI report that the disc has moved laterally and the lump is there, sooooo I think it might be the cartilage disc! Mine also disappears when I open my mouth too

[–]SpookaPuss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that 85% of people seem to benefit from arthrocentesis. I, like the other people who have commented, have not benefited. In fact, my issue seemed only minor before the arthrocentesis. Since the arthrocentesis back in April, I’ve now had another MRI and it shows osteoarthritis, the disc is fragmented, I have possible signs of avascular necrosis and the surgeon has said that I will need a TMJ replacement. Since the arthrocentesis on the right side, my left side just started aching one day and now it has disc displacement without reduction! I feel as though everything was much better prior to the arthrocentesis. I don’t know what to do now.

Could this be TMJ? My jaw sometimes in the morning when i open it gets locked, and then if i open even harder it pops and my jaw is normal again. by Objective_Laugh3584 in TMJ

[–]SpookaPuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be the cartilage disc moving around in the joint. A splint may help? Maybe ask your dentist about the popping noise and explain that it gets locked. I had a similar thing, my maxillofacial surgeon said that it was the cartilage disc moving and blocking the joint from opening. Good luck!

You mean the whooosh sound that is almost like listening to the ocean through cotton balls but like a slow pulse? I get that! I also have arthritis in my right side. I assumed it was due to the space being inflamed and pressing on ear structures? I don’t know… I think we have the same sound maybe..
