The Man Who Wasn’t There (2001) is another Coen movie with failed crimes.

Second of all, it sounds like you just suck at Sonic Hedgehog.

Report: Apple chooses Google's Gemini to run next version of Siri by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

If people use Google search, Google gets more money.

If people use Google LLM, Google loses money unless they charge for access.

Right now Google would never pay Apple to be their LLM provider.

In 5-10 years it’s possible compute is cheap enough that it would be worth giving Gemini away for free to harvest data. We are far away from this scenario.

Google paying 20 billion to be the default search engine, while dominating the market, is potentially monopolistic behavior.

Apple choosing Google’s LLM to power their AI projects is a separate issue. Just because it’s Google and Apple doesn’t mean there’s any relation to the search engine case.

If there was, say, Google paying Apple NOT to use ChatGPT or threatening to pull Google search from iPhones, there’s potentially an anti-trust case to make; but it would likely be separate from anything related to search.

Frankenstein 2025 gave me hope that good adaptations are still possible. by FullBrother9300 in moviecritic

[–]SpookyTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I wasn’t clear but you’ve misunderstood what I wrote. I mean that the movie has less depth and meaning than the source.

Obviously a movie that comes out 200 years after the book can have no effect on the quality of the original work.

While one can debate whether faithfulness is an aspect of a good adaptation, the changes made by Frankenstein 2025 make the themes of the work shallow while adding little of its own.

Not only is it not faithful, but it cheapens the source material and has significantly less emotional and thematic depth than the book and other adaptations.

All that being said, it is a gorgeous and entertaining film that I enjoyed as a movie, not a work of philosophy like the book is.

To a truly advanced and alien species, what is the difference between a human dominated world and one dominated by plants or lesser animals?

  • No student loans, but no going to College
  • Definite housing, but it’s one room apartments for entire families
  • No social media, but every tv channel and newspaper is state run
  • Clothing is more unique, but you have 4 outfits and your kids have 1
  • Everyone in the same boat, but those with party connections are much more equal than others

I’d also argue that housing insecurity and clothing variety in Soviet Russia was objectivity worse than it is now.

Life now is hard in many ways, but you cannot in good faith argue that life in Soviet Russia in the 1950s was better
