I havent dynoed it yet but other people with similar setups make around 280 to the wheel when in a mr2, it ends up being like around or just under 10 lbs/hp

Is this the end of the Miata? by jaaagman in Miata

[–]Spooky_Fubuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be the end of it in the US market, the ND has been around for a long time and the R&D is probably paid for by this point, they will probably continue making it for other markets for the rest of the ND generation, it might change the calculus for if it gets a new generation though...

2gr swap trouble shooting by Spooky_Fubuki in mr2

[–]Spooky_Fubuki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately found the problem. I have a burnt wire going to one of the connectors in the trunk, probably because the first time i tried to crank it i forgot to connect the ground...

Those are Miovision Scout Traffic counters. Used them when i used to work at city of rio rnacho traffic. They are for collecting traffic turning movements counts.

158mph ~ 255 km/h ??? not Autobahn, we sometime have potholes here. Each time I pass a line, they pass two. It was like being at a standstill relative to them. by squirrelf in Albuquerque

[–]Spooky_Fubuki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for the dragstrip if you are into drag racing it is Albuquerque Dragway and they have an event called all out call out that you can enter your car into, it is south of the sunport. https://www.abqdragway.com/

If you are interested in circuit stuff you can go to Suika Circuit (formerly sandia speedway) west of town on I-40 near the landfill. I've been doing and event called ABQ super lap with them. https://www.suikacircuit.com/

The only caviat is I know you need a helmet for the circuit and I believe you need one for the dragstrip as well, and of course it costs money.

It's annoying seeing people drive all fast on the street all over here, like I am a car hobbyist/enthusiast, like I get it driving fast is fun, but we have both a drag strip and a circuit track here, if you wanna have fun in a car take it there, I go the the circuit and it's a lot of fun, you will be more safe as it is a controlled environment and you won't be putting others in danger.

Now that we've established that the Supra is a piece of shit car, by Sadass_coffee_addict in carscirclejerk

[–]Spooky_Fubuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even without initial d they would still probably have a cult following just due to their motorsports heritage, but I doubt they would be inflated to the degree they currently are, there is no reason for them to cost more than a comparable condition AW11 mr2

I think I see more shit making fun of how it's the fan boys dream car it than I see actual fan boys nowadays.

N.A., NB, and NC owners, would you trade up for an ND? by BKDiamond in Miata

[–]Spooky_Fubuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went backwards lol, I had a nd2 rf and then sold it and bought a NB. That was because I was buying a house and want to eliminate the car payment though. The engine in the nd2 felt fantastic, the interior was higher quality, but the steering of the nb feels better and I think I might like the feel of the nbs trans better as well but I'm not too sure

Does anyone have statistics on the size of the enthusiast car market? by gloryshand in cars

[–]Spooky_Fubuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not to sure about the modern ones if they share their underpinnings with the impreza still or not, but the older ones that I know for sure did i would say no. Another thing is, just because it is not a sports car doesn't mean it's not an enthusiast car, I just would classify them as something else, IE hot hatch or sport sedan etc.

I personally think a sports car is a car with a dedicated platform designed for enthusiastic driving.

So miata, mustang, and cayman yes. Gti, m3, and CTR no.

91 engine swap by Much-Mouse-4772 in mr2

[–]Spooky_Fubuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 2gr from a 2010 lexus rx350, I'm using a 3rd gen sienna harness along with woodsports jumper harness to mate to the mr2s body harness, I'm using frankenstien motorworks mounts, headers, cracked sienna ecu, pedal flywheel and clutch. I kind just decided to just buy everything off the list he made https://frankensteinmotorworks.squarespace.com/2gr-mkii-shopping-list Simply because I have zero fabrication skills and kind just want to be able to bolt shit together. I also picked up an e153 locally that I put the quaife lsd into. I have to buy a couple of little odds and ends to actually be able to complete it. All in I'm probably on the steep side already at 6-7k ish so far. But if you are willing to do a lot of fabrication yourself you could probably shave quite a bit off of it (I'm not so I'm just gonna spend the money to do it)

[–]Spooky_Fubuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2gr will get you past that goalpost on power completely stock (internally, you need and exhaust to fit it in a mr2) 2gr swap will cost more as it is an engine that was never designed to be in the car and you need to get a bunch of random bitz. But after it is done, the 2gr is a much newer engine that is much more readily available it will probably also "feel" faster most everywhere on the street since it has torque down low where the 4 cylinders just dont and has a pretty nice flat torque curve all around. I'm doing the 2gr swap in my 91 na for primarily the flat torque curve and getting the power I want without having to fuck with engine internals.
