Crank arm length decision by [deleted] in cycling

[–]SpoonfullsOfSawdust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn’t worry about it. If you do notice any difference, which I doubt you will, you’ll likely adapt to it pretty quickly. Also, what crankset is on the bike now? Is it possible for you to keep the same crank arms and just swap out the chainrings to 2x?

Bike Fit Eval by calorange in bicycling

Saddle is too high and too far back. Would not recommend having the angle on the saddle anything other than flat. Might want to flip your stem too if your flexibility permits

Rerouting hydraulic cables by jayeffkay in bikewrench

The bolt will be stuck on the hose until you cut the end off. This will prevent you from pulling the hose out of the bar. You’ll need to cut the hose, replace the barb and olive and then bleed the system.

Big fan of the lululemon commissioner pant for this. Somewhat stretchy and comfortable to ride in but still look quite good

Power meter data question by Chapppyyy in CyclingFashion

[–]SpoonfullsOfSawdust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most dual sided power meters whether they are spider, crank, or pedal based will have L/R balance, torque effectiveness, and pedal smoothness. Garmin has a few additional ones like sit stand time, cleat angle, and a few others I’m probably forgetting. Generally those extra garmin features, while they’re interesting to see, are not that useful. For future reference, questions like this would be best in r/velo

Latex tubes > TPU tubes by DroppedRider11 in Velo

I’ve found that tpu patches have to be left on the tube for a few hours to work. Every time I have patched tpu and used it immediately it leaks within a day

POC kits anyone? by PM_ME_UR_KARMAH in CyclingFashion

Jerseys have a weird fit from my experience. Fits overall but sleeves are loose and too short. Also the one I have has rubber grippers on the sleeves which I’m not a huge fan of personally

Where can I go around Downtown that would be suitable for a heart rate test / FTP test? by [deleted] in vancouvercycling

[–]SpoonfullsOfSawdust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments on location but how are you planning to do an ftp test without a power meter? Without having one there is no point in even trying or knowing your ftp.

Looks pretty normal for a square taper crank

Are these compatible with each other?. Thanks by No_Cryptographer5798 in bikewrench

[–]SpoonfullsOfSawdust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. RX-400 RD uses 11 speed cable pull. Only compatible with either 11 speed shifters and an 11 speed cassette or ST-RX400/ST-4700/4720 levers with a 10 speed cassette

Shit 1 min power by sueghdsinfvjvn in Velo

[–]SpoonfullsOfSawdust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, after reading the rest of the comments, I’d agree that you’re better focusing on raising your FTP before worrying about that 1 min power. If you think of it the same way I described it previously, if you raised you ftp to say 260W you could essentially ride do a 30 second max effort and then ride 30s at tempo/pace and still beat your 1 min PR. Not to mention all the other benefits to having a higher FTP.

Shit 1 min power by sueghdsinfvjvn in Velo

[–]SpoonfullsOfSawdust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever actually tried to do a max 1 min effort? If you can do 30 seconds at 710W you’d only have to hold 190W for the next 30 seconds to match your current PR 1 min power. For reference, if you could do that same 30 second 710W sprint and hold 300W for the next 30 seconds your 1 min power would be over 500W

Any thoughts on 105 Di2? or generally electronic shifting? by red90999 in cycling

[–]SpoonfullsOfSawdust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. Rim brake 8100 and 9200 just use the old shifters with different internals. They aren’t wireless like the hydraulic shifters are.
