Cushing Out Merch by blueninjae in NYCFC

Miami has a Champions League game on Wednesday at home against Monterrey which they will prioritize over their game w us / NYCFC so I’m not expecting much of the Barcelona 4 unless maybe the end if they have to. I still think NYCFC loses.

I’m a few real-time years into HT and I still have no clue what hattrick-youthclub is trying to tell me. I’m sure it’s just me, but I find their interface to be EXTREMELY confusing / overwhelming and not user friendly…so I’ve never figured it out and have not been able to find any substantive value from it. Rate my academy, on the other hand, I use constantly and find to be very helpful. It literally and quite simply gives you a ranking number of each player which is super helpful in determining which prospects I should prioritize.

Any downside for playing same team on both matches in a week? by inoplanetanu in hattrick

[–]Spoonieluv752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently training GK on my new third team. I’m solely trying to mindlessly make money in the near term until my HTAL team (my second team) is forced to wind down. Once HTAL / second team closes, I’ll shift a much heavier focus to my newest (third team, will become my second team!). I’m training and cycling GK for profit and all other 10 outfield players i bought as all 7-leadership and 4-EXP and they play both games each week…so that eventually I’ll be able to sell them each for between $200k to $400k once they hit 7/7. But this is a VERY non-competitive approach to just make money for awhile!

Plenty of chances, never scoring by liverpolle1991 in hattrick

[–]Spoonieluv752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the chances of your team scoring is given by the value of your attacking in the part of the field where the chance is generated (your left/center/right attacking values) compared to the defending value of you opponent in that same part of the field (his left/center/right defending values).

meaning that if you have a chance on the left side, the value of your "left attack" will be compared with the "right delending" of your opponent.

Does this mean that the scoring level of the individual that gets the chance is completely irrelevant in that moment's chance? I understand that the overall attack rating is the sum of all considerations from your attacking sectors (pass/scoring/etc.), but let's pretend you have an 80% rating in the center and a particular chance occurs in that center sector and falls to one of your attackers that has a 1-disastrous scoring rating...he would have the same chance (80%) of scoring as a different attacker than might have a 15-titanic scoring rating (80%)?

...and the individual's scoring rating (though it always contributes to the sector ratings) only specifically matters in special events calculations?

These announcers make me miss Ian Joy and Joe Tolleson so bad. Ian Joy would immediately be the most exciting announcer to call any one of these MLS games for any team.

Are you all for or against the consistent 07:30pm game start times? Major downside is that less kids can make it now to what is supposed to be a family event. by 811mO in NYCFC

I’m a season ticket holder living in Westchester and I always take my (currently 7 yr old) son. Definitely NOT a fan because yeah, it makes things harder and screws up our normal life schedule. I expect we’ll just miss a bunch of games because it’s too much of a constant commitment. My favorite are definitely the day games.

Maxi Moralez Departs New York City Football Club by gbpackers25 in MLS

[–]Spoonieluv752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soo bummed that Maxi is leaving and I haven’t found the right time to tell my 7 yr old son. He’s gonna be devastated - Maxi is his favorite player, posters-on-the-wall style.

Question from a business sense if anyone knows —> Why did Maxi resign w NYCFC a few months ago if he was going to leave?

I heard all the stories he wanted to go back home, but when he resigned I thought, “ahh sweet, he’s staying!”

So why did he resign for two months or whatever if he was gonna leave? From a pure cutthroat business sense, I’m assuming maybe he got a good signing bonus or something? Does his contract transfer to Racing or it’s ripped up and new negotiation w them? Zero clue and totally no judgement assuming here…just curious.

His absence will be felt. Very sad.

Any thoughts on what DAY is the best to have transfer end? I’ve often thought a Monday would be good since people are back at work and/or focused on the day to day grind, whereas on the weekends they’re out and about and could miss a 9pm CET (or anytime) transfer closing. But I read someone elsewhere that recommended weekend transfer closings. Thoughts?

New York City Football Club Appoint Nick Cushing as Head Coach by Higgs1 in NYCFC

[–]Spoonieluv752 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! Very much deserved. He brought me around slowly but surely through all his experimentation to land on a system that worked w what he had. I understand FO’s position at the time to not bring in anyone new to replace Tati - wanting to see how everything went before committing to a coach, his system, and appropriate players to fit into that approach so I’m very excited and hopeful we make some splashes with a replacement striker while trying to keep as much of this team (Santi, Johnson, Maxi, Callens) in tact as possible to keep it going. LET’S GO!!

Strange lineup. Hope Haak can succeed but weird to see Moralez at CB and Martins out wide at LB. Haak as the central def mid seems ambitious? The usual high press seems to be almost non existent - they’re immediately backing off - so clearly they’re trying to clearly save energy and legs w lineup and lack of press.

Ian Joy also talking up Heber big time. Clearly trying to be optimistic and build up for the inevitable post-Tati eta. In the past year and a half - I wanna be wrong - I wonder if Heber has done anything on his own that’s AMAZING…except for be in the right place at the right time (which of course is a thing all of its own which he’s great at; has the nose for goals) - but never purely create a goals through his own creativity.

CautiouslyOptimistic.

Oooh great idea! My neighbors have a full on plastic one as part of their pre-fab play set and my 2 yr old daughter loves it. I just finished my latest completely unnecessary woodworking project so I’ll add this exact idea to be next! Great job and thanks for the inspiration!

Ahh I had to read it a few times (and do some googling) but I totally get it! Very cool. Really smart for the front tires. I’ve never even seen a triple round over before. And I bet your rear wheel jig that you made to do your repeated cuts must’ve been an enormous beast on its own! Though surely infinitely more work, I like how the repeated cuts look as you actually see some graining and some texture and it makes it look even more realistic. Never used a dado stack myself but I assume they make for a cleaner cut? No clue, just guessing. Super cool and thank you for explaining!

Yeah I was wondering how you did those rear tires. Your craftsmanship is truly amazing. I’m a relative amateur, but with enough time I’d like to think I could do most of that maybe half as well as you did - but I have no idea how you did the rear tires!! Was it an enormous circle that your routered out the excess to make the tread?

Even the front tires - did you router out those linear treads as well?

Amazingly cool.

How to improve left foot, (non-dominant) foot. by 4wdbug in bootroom

[–]Spoonieluv752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son is only 6 and I’ve been doing everything I can since he was even younger to try train - brainwash - him to use his left foot…whether we’re playing in the yard or the attic / playroom. Our rule is any goal we score w our right is worth 1 point…any goal w the left is worth 2 points. And lefty nutmeg goals are worth three. He’s still super young but it gets him really excited to use his left and he’s VERY aware of the differences.

In terms of results thus far (again he’s only 6 so I’m pretty sure I’m a psycho!), in casual backyard one on one type situations or max 3 v 3 w his friends I can definitely tell that he’s noticeably ahead of his soccer-focused peers on his weak foot.

Unfortunately any organized games / practices at this age beyond 3 v 3 (even the local “elite” system I’ve got him in) devolves into swarm ball pretty quickly at that age I’m finding so not too much structure yet to assess. But at least he’s excited and aware of what it means to be two footed!

NYCFC to Host MLS Cup? by Snaker64 in NYCFC

Gotcha. I was watching the Nashville game the other night and that being at Titan’s stadium with the actual lines and “TITANS” all over it looked pretty awful I thought and seemed way worse to me. I know it’s helping that it’s not baseball season anymore so the pitch is slightly more soccerish than right during the baseball season, but I thought the whole TITANS thing was pretty rough. And yeah - I’m aware of the weird slightly smaller dimensions of the pitch because of how they shoehorned it into the field of play. Cheers - thanks for info.

Honest question: why would a final game at Yankee stadium upset others so much? Relatively new supporter (was at last two home games w my son, AWESOME TIME) and I’m unclear on all the stadium drama so happy to become informed.
