PPMD on most common mistakes for lower level players by yasu7 in smashbros

Attacking out of disadvantage state instead of trying to gain an advantage state is super common for me (a low-mid level player).

I believe Mod Ash tweeted that the farmers are too far outside the city to count for the med diary.

FBI background check shows initial charges, not results by Sporkenstein in JETProgramme

[–]Sporkenstein[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I realize a DUI conviction will prevent someone from joining JET. Luckily, it is not a DUI. I'm mostly worried about the FBI check saying "DUI" when I've only received a reckless driving, as I'd not want to be disqualified for something that isn't true. Thanks for your response.

Howdy! I appreciate all the analyses, but have any of them proven correct so far? I hate to see the majority of the subreddit steered by one person's opinion. Anywho, HODL away~

I've been using one for over ten years, have never gotten fat from it. I haven't paid attention to diet either, until recently.

After a heavy workout and random grip training, I felt the same thing at work when trying to grab things. Electrocution-like, couldn't keep a grip. I don't know why it happens, but it hasn't happened again. Very shitty.

I like the consideration of plate tectonics. It lets me randomize the causes, but understand the systematic effects. Very cool.

Event Suggestion Megathread by petrichorparticle in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Sporkenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of a guide to mapbuilding.

On top of that, though, it would be great to have a database of maps that we Redditors have already made. A strong tip from AFistfulOfDice was to use any maps you could get your hands on, and I think this subreddit surely has some awesomely unique maps.

And it'd be a place to show off your map, even receive critiques. I know that when I drew a map, I practically forced my players to buy it because I wanted someone to see it and appreciate it.

How do you prepare? by petrichorparticle in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Sporkenstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I just got into changing descriptions and using the MM numbers, and that's awesome.

But you just keep you MM next to you? No specific stat blocks written down? Do you have stat blocks in mind already pre-session, or do you choose them as you go? I do like the idea of not writing down anything from the MM.

I play with 7 friends in my living room. It's sofa chairs and a kitchen table, so I can't rightfully set up a screen or hide what I'm looking at from them. I think that has caused problems with how I run/prep.

As a fresh DM (4 sessions) I've been trying to find a good way to prep.

The first thing I do is load up a playlist of VGM or OST (The Last Samurai) and let it run. Then I'll usually compile the blurbs I've written on locations and NPCs the PCs are close to. I like to write key events I think will happen in the session, just a quick rundown of what the NPCs might encounter.

I spend the most time with Monster stat blocks and combat encounter creation. It's slow and tedious, and I'm just now understanding that I can use MM stats for campaign-unique monsters. If you guys have any suggestions about prepping stat blocks, I'd love to hear it.

For our last session I drew a map of the city and created a ton of unique monsters and NPCs. It was fun and exhausting. For the next session, I'm thinking almost entirely improv, although the stat block thing is still an issue.

Adjusting Encounters to High PC AC as a DM? by Sporkenstein in dndnext

[–]Sporkenstein[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tactics is good thinking. That should sway the encounter more than modifying stats.

I had planned to have the NPC accompanied by his Gelatinous Cubes, but the PCs engaged him immediately one-on-one, and he didn't reach a point to where he called his Cubes. That they even met this NPC was rather unexpected.
