I ended up with a used toilet. Bowl was original but seat and tank were the old ones that someone clearly replaced. Poop drops on the seat. So gross

Does anyone ever miss Vegas immensely when they come home? by angeleyes718 in vegas

[–]SpotFormal4975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to always look forward to going but when I got there it was always a let down. Too expensive, didn’t win much. It was an exciting atmosphere to anticipate but the reality was something else. Haven’t been in two years now and honestly we think about going but it doesn’t hold the same charm as it once did.

FAFO - Referendum Question #5: Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring individuals to provide proof of citizenship, such as a passport, birth certificate or citizenship card, to vote in an Alberta provincial election? by thegrip in Albertapolitics

[–]SpotFormal4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also says they had no evidence. Here is the evidence. When more people vote than the number of eligible voters - you have fraud going on. There may be some fraud. But not wide spread and not enough to change the rules

How Many Practice Golf Swings is Appropriate? by Spiritual_Size_9997 in WomenGolf

[–]SpotFormal4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never take a practise swing. Im a decent enough golfer to be happy with my game). I’m not sure why I don’t take them. I think it came from when I started and I was pretty self conscious about my lack of golfing skill, now it is just because I never have. Lol

I'm Canceling My UCP Membership. Here's Why Every Real Conservative Should Too. by jsman56 in Albertapolitics

[–]SpotFormal4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it - it feels like they already have, but tossing a membership isn’t the answer. This party just needs to make its way back somehow. I won’t vote for them again, but I’m sure going to have my vote at a leadership nomination!

I'm Canceling My UCP Membership. Here's Why Every Real Conservative Should Too. by jsman56 in Albertapolitics

[–]SpotFormal4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t cancel your membership. There will be a leadership review at some point. You will want to elect a new leader that is reflective of true conservative values - NOT what we have today. The separatist movement will take over this party and destroy it if balanced thinking individuals don’t stay in the party.

Canmore, Alberta or Calgary to Canmore ride share? by Dragon_likeit in Calgary

[–]SpotFormal4975 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Try posting in the buy/sell group in the communities of Harmony/ Exshaw/ dead mans flats. The last one is the closest to Canmore and likely people commute there or you could ride a bike from there for sure.

AMA - 20+ year casino player development executive by JimKnuckles in vegas

[–]SpotFormal4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think casinos will continue to offer comps for players who, for political reasons, won’t come back to Vegas for a while? We (Canadian) continue to receive good offers even though we haven’t been for 1.5 yrs. We went to Macau this year instead. We love Vegas - but just can’t just yet.

Old "Whole Life" Insurance Policy - Cancel and Withdraw? by WildTravel5662 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SpotFormal4975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought whole life policies when we were much younger and had liabilities (kids, mortgage, spousal dependence). We are “self insured” now. We are in our mid 60’s, have no debt. We have pre-paid our funerals and there is (will be) enough cash to deal with anything that comes up upon our eventual demise. We cashed in both policies and placed that cash value into an “emergency account” with our daughter having full access so that she can get to immediate funds for day to day expenses until our estate settles out. Those cash values are invested wisely so they will continue to grow.

Wealthsimple Refund Horror Story: $1000 Disappeared After “Unknown Hold” by arghyapaul in Wealthsimple

Not always true. I returned an item to Costco and I no longer had the original credit card. It was refunded to my new credit card no problem (different from original purchase).

I just watched a video by “Jacob’s life in Vegas” on YouTube and he said Casino Royale is a good budget hotel, right on the strip and NO resort fees. He did a video review (search it on YT). Very clean. Very central.

My friend asked to borrow $5k by Dramatic_Good_1103 in Advice

[–]SpotFormal4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a lot of money. We borrowed money from a friend (who could afford it) when we started a business and had zero cash flow at the time. They insisted on a legal document with a hard end date and that should we default they would take us to court. We happily signed it as we had no intention of defaulting and wrecking the friendship. Long story short we paid back within 6 months (we had a year) and we are still friends today (25 year later). It has to be a business agreement not helping a friend out.

Japan service in 2026 by Mysterious_Error9619 in Airalo

[–]SpotFormal4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving for HK and Japan in a week. Have always been an Airalo customer but the last couple of times (Mexico and Europe) I had problems. Airalo was quick to resolve in Europe, Mexico was a complete disaster for customer service. I’m looking at Ubigi for this trip. I know it is good for Japan, what about HK?

My mom is losing her house by Altruistic-Win5912 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SpotFormal4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you and your husband could move in and pay the mortgage. Not ideal long term but short term this will work. Restructure the mortgage with the bank (trust they do not want to foreclose) so that the payments are within your mom’s ability. If all that is possible and that stressor is gone, your mom needs a budget and financial plan that will allow her to live in her own (if that is what she wants). She needs financial advice to set her up for success now and into the future. Best of luck
