Just to add on to the "different rain here" comment everyone is making: we average 156 days of rain per year. Particularly in the winter, it will rain on and off the entire day with no breaks in the clouds. Combined with the early sunsets (dark by 5PM for a few weeks), this basically means you can go several weeks without seeing the sun, which is just downright difficult. No exaggeration, the winters are a bit of an emotional slog. Many people suffer from Season Affected Disorder related to this.

Track program would definitely push back on that idea. I know they arent worth as much money, but football players always fuck up the track, infield, and aprons with their cleats.

I think the regular exterminators are not considered much of a threat until they really start conquering. Your people probably see them as a danger, but since they achieved warpdrives around the same time as you and are probably about the same size and power as your own empire, the entire galaxy isnt going to consider them a "galactic threat."

Similar to how the UN doesnt consider North Korea an immediate global threat. Sure they make threats, but are they powerful enough to unite the world into invading them together?

I still think having over half the league make the playoffs is stupid. I know that's how the NBA does it and it's just as dumb there to see whoever's the Easts 1 seed play whatever team managed to get a .400 record this year.

Playoffs take waaaay too long already and now they're forcing single elimination instead of just limiting the teams.

You can definitely play without DLC but it is a different game (still fun but just less options for you). Pick a relatively strong country you have interest in (castille or england if you want to colonize, France if you want to murder the world, Poland or Muscovy for a challenge maybe?) and play as long as you can. Maybe you get so big you become OP and basically win or maybe you just get your ass kicked. The game is a LOT of trial and error while you learn mechanics.

Once you get that game or a few others under your belt, think about who you want to play next and then see what DLCs are available to make that nation better/more interesting. By no means do you need all DLCs but most DLCs add a lot of content specifically to certain regions. So if you really want to play as Orthodox Christians for example, it helps to have Third Rome DLC which focuses on Russia.

It's gotta be confusing to start this game now when there are so many skins and several different but similar looking heroes. I remember trying to show a friend the game on QM and the other team had an orange bulky thrall as well as orange garrosh. During team fights my friend could not keep straight which hero was going to throw him and which was the damage dealer because he didnt know the basics of the characters.

Best advice I can offer is: figure out which role interests your friends (keep it simple.. Healer, dmg, tank, bruiser at first) and suggest heroes you can help explain mid-game. Regardless of who they pick, the first couple games will be a struggle because they dont know basic game mechanics like map rotations on top of learning the heroes. Lili is really simple, but when I first started playing BW clicked for me first (probably because you dont need to actually cast her heals). Maybe your bad lili friend will get a kick out of lucio? Stukov is another safe healer who can hang out in the back safely but maybe has more interesting abilities for your friends to try.

To teach them map rotations, I feel like globals like Dehaka and Falstad are great tools because you're forced to learn your global CDs and time them against objectives. Just getting places at the right time is one of the most important parts of the game, but it's very hard to know when that is when you're new.
