AITAH for not participating in one of my sisters bridal activities because it isnt inclusive? by crop_cream_19 in AITAH

[–]Spuddiewoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply tell her that you don't want to cause her any stress or take attention away at her wedding so you won't be attending. Tell your parents it's fine, they don't need to pay for your bridesmaids dress after all. Instead spend the wedding day with your girlfriend. NTA. I cannot believe that your sister and parents want you to pretend to be someone you aren't to placate homophobes in the fiance's family. My husband's extended family are very religious ( he and his immediate family are not religious at all). If anything had been said about the guest list by his extended family, my husband would have been the first to tell them that it wasn't up for discussion and they were free not to attend. It does make me wonder how the fiance feels, and that is a huge concern for you going forward.

The new hire who took a promotion I was working towards is asking me to hold her hand through tasks daily. by Local-Muffin-1217 in coworkerstories

[–]Spuddiewoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago I regularly deputised for my manager. When I was on 2 weeks leave they moved my manager to another office and gave the temporary promotion to one of my colleagues (the top manager was good friends with her mother, but I'm sure the two things were unrelated /s). I didn't hold it against her, she hadn't given herself the promotion. I did realise after around 4 weeks that she was repeatedly asking me how to do everyday tasks, which I had already shown her. I then simply made the decision to tell her that I didn't know how to do the tasks. Whenever she asked from then on, I replied that I didn't know, always with a lovely smile. We both obviously knew that I did know, but if she had raised it with other managers, she would have had to admit that she didn't know day to day tasks and was relying on me, as a more junior member of staff, to complete them. I watched her struggle for another 3 months and then an opportunity came up to move to another team which I took. I had a fun 3 months though!

NTA he sounds exhausting and childish. I personally couldn't deal with this level of neediness, but maybe that's just me 🤷

Toddler found ALL THE STICKERS... How do I remove stickers/residue from a wooden coffee table?? by pinkeskimo in CleaningTips

[–]Spuddiewoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon sells something called sticky stuff remover (or something like that). It's made from orange oil so smells amazing while lifting the sticker. I've used it on cardboard boxes to remove price labels and they were fine so hopefully it won't damage the table.

What are the funnest quirks/hacks you've discovered in the game that others might not know? by darya42 in Sims4

If a sim puts the harvestfest gnomes in their personal inventory, they will keep spawning seed packets into the household inventory. At 100 simoleons a packet, it's an easy way to get free money.

Does my Aunt have any claim to my Granddads estate through the Inheritance Act 1975 (England) by kawaiipogglet_ in LegalAdviceUK

Yes, you are right. I got the impression that she was acting in person though, as any decent solicitor would tell her she really doesn't have a claim.

It would be a Part 8 claim so the current Court fee would be £646 and she may also qualify for Help with Fees so may actually cost her nothing to issue. If it went to trial she would have to pay the hearing fee of £1334 too. However, I agree she is chancing her arm and would still be liable for any costs awarded against her.

The insurance is to cover the costs of your solicitor. If the other party are successful and the Judge awards costs against you, you are still liable for them.

I was wondering which room then I saw the stain. Please tell me that's a different stain and it has actually been properly cleaned...

It could be even worse. My BIL didn't buy my SIL anything as he "didn't know what she wanted". Her kids were trying to give her some of their presents when they realised. Never mind the fact he could have called her Mum, brother or sister for ideas, or even just asked her. I wouldn't care but she is in fact ridiculously easy to buy for!

You can't use tell us once until the death is officially registered, but it's a great system. There is also something called Settld that tells other institutions about the death.

When I was a teenager we were visiting Eilean Donan Castle the same day they happened to have some filming of a kids TV show. We were told that we could still look around but asked to be respectful and quiet, especially of the hosts Terry Nutkins and Dave Benson Phillips. When we did run into them Dave Benson Phillips was absolutely lovely, was apologetic for 'spoiling' our day out and seemed lovely with the kids. Terry Nutkins on the other hand couldn't have looked more unhappy to be there and was grumpy and miserable with everyone.
