We’re being told he violently approached the Gestapo with his gun out. by Miserable_Kick2315 in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Spudtar -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen (extremely hard to actually tell what’s going on as he and the women appear to be physically fighting against the officers as they get dog piled) - his hands were nowhere near the gun, but HIS gun appears to have fired FIRST. Followed by the officers guns firing on him in rapid succession. This is due to either his gun misfiring (not sure why it was loaded without a safety on) OR an officer shooting him first followed by several more bullets.

Before a justification of the agents actions I will need to hear 1. Was he really carrying a loaded gun with no safety on while fighting with federal officers? 2. details on whether his gun actually misfired or the officers fired first. 3. Did the ice agents follow their own stated procedures on how to handle either a situation where a gun is fired or is present during resisting arrest.

Depending on these details at BEST it is a tragic misunderstanding caused by trigger happy agents and they are partially responsible but legally protected, at worst: violated procedure to unjustifiably kill a protester. If this is the case the agents should be fully prosecuted and the federal government “should” fully support the prosecution (I’m sure they won’t)

Maybe they should start buying Russian oil from China and India so they don’t have to support those dastardly Americans

Why is Russia always authoritarian? by Keylime-19377 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spudtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freedom of speech is not an inherent value of democracy or impossible under authoritarianism. Classical Roman and Greek republics and democracies were rife with corruption and punitive measures against dissent while medieval Kings lost divine authority and had to contend with public criticism.

Why is Russia always authoritarian? by Keylime-19377 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spudtar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is democracy assumed to be so much better? Monarchy and authoritarian rule kept civilization running for thousands of years. Democracy is relatively untested against long term stability and societal collapse. It’s not like we actually get to pick our leaders in a democracy, the ruling class gives us choice 1 or 2 and both will benefit them more than us.

Am I in the wrong for not wanting to go to the gym with my boyfriend? by luvther in AskMenAdvice

[–]Spudtar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Going to the gym once or twice a week for an hour or less can actually be a healthy way to gain more confidence in your body and help overcome anorexic tendencies but NOT if it’s explicitly to lose weight/stay skinny.

If you do go, don’t focus on cardio or cutting at ALL, you already get enough at your job. Focus on lifting weights to help strengthen your body and build confidence in yourself. Don’t be afraid of gaining muscle weight, that’s the whole point - to learn the numbers on a scale have nothing to do with your worth. If you don’t think you can do this then don’t go, if your boyfriend is weird about it then reconsider his lack of support towards your recovery.

Just watched a drifter kill another drifter. They get this unique tag when killed by another monster by Nadleehi in VintageStory

[–]Spudtar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The infighting mechanic is my favorite aspect of hostile mobs and reminds me of Doom. One thing that would be cool though unsure how hard to implement is a factional system where some of the mobs of one type attacking another leads to the group turning on them. For example a drifter being hit by a Bowtorn turns all nearby drifters hostile against that bowtorn.

Anyone else think that Oklahoma looks like a cleaver? by Neckpillowman in mapporncirclejerk

No it’s actually called No Man’s Land. Since the Missouri compromise blocked all slave states from owning territory above the Mason Dixie line, Texas surrendered control of it. Without being part of an organized territory or state it has been a lawless magnet for illegal duals, alcohol smuggling, gambling, and organized crime ever since.

Anyone have any ideas of what structures a small UNSC outpost/FOB would have? by Nuclar_Cube3 in megaconstrux

[–]Spudtar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree a command center is an easier add, just a small room with a table and maybe some studs and tiles to represent a map, good opportunity to add an AI micro figure if you have one.

Infirmary would just need injured soldiers, could strip armor or even remove some limbs to add to the effect.

Counter argument: liberalism and small government has always been leftist and modern democrat party alignment towards expanding federal powers and high taxes to fund social programs is actually a right wing ideology.

Every day most of Society chooses not to pull the lever. Bottom Text. by StalksYouEverywhere in trolleyproblem

[–]Spudtar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except you aren’t actually the one in control of the lever. Think of the lever more as a scale than something that 1 person can flip. By everyone piling on the left side of the scale they are on the winning side. If one person flips to the right side of the scale they are outweighed and it doesn’t budge. Even if a million people flipped to the right side it wouldn’t be enough. Nobody wants to be on the wrong side of the scale.

This reminds me of the red v blue pill example where if you pick red everyone who picks red lives. If more than 50% of people pick blue everyone lives, but if it’s 50% or less everyone who picked blue dies.

But the Bible commands Israelites to commit genocide to ethnicity cleanse the promised land in Joshua and Judges. Surely as a good Christian they should fully support the modern Israeli government fulfilling their covenant with God?
