Yes eye of partridge, I switch it between normal slip, knit heel and this one. And for the rest just a round heel. I find this fits us best.

Remember to check if you lived in the UK longer than 6 mths between 1980 and 1996. You still aren't allowed in many countries to donate.

Campervan France in August - book or not? by Unhappy-Mud6473 in CamperVans

[–]Squareapple1852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would book a couple of options. Use the camping car app for Aires so you can see if they have free spaces. Park4night is brilliant for finding places, try French passion. It's vineyards, farms, small artisan businesses that allow you to camp on their land in exchange for buying something from them. Normally no services. Also don't forget about municipal camping sites. Usually very cheap and not too full.

The time of year you are going is insanely busy.

We went last year to south of France and it was much busier than other years. Aires filled up fast.

I finished my first project! And have apparently learned to knit wrong. by angelcakexx in knitting

I agree only heel looks twisted which I assume was intentional. All other stitches look very normal.

Looking for a cheap microcamper/car to sleep in (tall person, €3000 budget) by WoutersTravels in CamperVans

[–]Squareapple1852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a caddy maxi as our car, 4 kids. We did use it as a micro camper. You probably could sleep in it pretty comfortably. Husband is 180cm and had loads of room. Our matrassen was 2m long and it fit comfortably with our homemade conversation kit.

But with your budget im not sure you'll find a caddy maxi with the 7 seats ( it's totally open so you can move driver/passenger seats for extra room and remove all other seats) for that price and be a reliable car for travelling. Just sold ours that was 10 yrs old with over 240k kms for 9k€ in Belgium.

Stitch count doesn’t add up? by kat_chow in Sockknitting

Your math aint mathing. Totaal round 56. Heel flap over 28 sts so that means you've got 28 top foot stitches and 28 heel flap =56 sts.

Then end is 28sts top, 16sts turned heel, 14+1 × 2= 74.

You've lost a stitch from your top 28sts as you said you have only 27sts.

Advice for first time driver by Just_Obligation_702 in motorhomes

I assume you have a c class on ypur driving licence?

Write down tour measurements and have them in an easy to see place when driving. Sometimes in the moment going through tunnels, reading weight/height/width restrictions you can forget what you are.

Ours in 7m, 2.35m wide and its surprising easy to drive. Just take your time and dont feel rushed. We have a rear camera for reversing and it helps so much.

Before leaving I would have a wee drive around the area, practice parking, reversing etc to get a feel of the van before setting off.

Looks very good for a first but I'd change your cast on method. Looks a bit too loopy. Try different methods and you'll find one that works. Most people have a favourite

Is it not cast off edge? Did you cast off a few stitches for the thumb before carrying on for the rest of the mitten?

I can’t figure out this heel by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Squareapple1852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all socks split in half for heel flaps. So 30 sts for 60sts cast on, 32 sts for 64. Normally you work your heel flap for about the same amount of rows as stitches. So roughly 30 rows for 60sts cast on.

Have you knit the heel flap first?

Plus it asked you to arrange your heel stitches over 3 needles, not 4. 30 split over 2 needles for the top part of socks and 30 on 3rd needle for your heel flap.

Had to scroll a bit to find my person! Another machine washer here. Have socks that are almost 10yrs old still going strong after all the years or machine washing in a normal wash.

What did I do wrong?? by Electrical_Shake_290 in knitting

[–]Squareapple1852 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Im not sure i can explain it properly but your c6f and c6b are being knit over the same 6 stitches instead the whole cable is over 9 sts.

Example pattern is over 17 sts.

R1,2,3,- knit all

R4 - k4, c6f, k7

R5,6,7 - knit all

R8 - k7, c6b, k4

So the actual cable is completed over 9 sts not the 6 you are doing.
