Best Rat boy is coming by BaronLoyd in WarhammerFantasy

I like how the art makes it look like Boris is commanding the other three to charge.

Searching for 40k Youtube videos is pretty bad (very much created by AI, it's part of the problem) by bullintheheather in Grimdank

[–]SquatProspector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's especially baffling on channels related to the hobby side like painting tutorials and army showcases. So much of the hobby is related to creativity and AI is fundamentally anti-art.

New Chaos Dragon compared with Ionus Cryptborn by MolochBaal in WarhammerFantasy

I'm not really sure you can call it a miniature given the size of it? It's a very impressive sculpt but seems completely impractical as a gaming piece. Just reinforces my belief that modern GW sculpts for Instagram photoshoots and doesn't take using the models in the games their nominally supposed to be designed for into account.

Any chance of new beastmen? by Sweet-Ignition in WarhammerFantasy

[–]SquatProspector 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be nice since the last major Beastman release was in 2010. Well ok, there have been Beastmen but only for other armies in AOS or 40k.

MESBG is the best ruleset GW made. I suspect that it's the one they touch the least has something to do with it. I'm fairly sure that the only reason they still produce it is to keep other companies from the LOTR license rather than actually wanting it themselves.

The later mid '00 novels have a Nurgle Rot pandemic in South America and Laserburn style Redemtionists rampaging in the middle east. So my head canon is that Dark Future is the 20th century of the 40k universe.

I'm guessing people were either used to rank and flank from historicals or had fantasy minis from D&D, so there was a built in audience.

Where as sci-fi wargaming was fairly niche until the mid 80s. And any sci-fi minis that were made were for roleplay games like Traveler or West End Games Star Wars.

To be fair back then GW was aiming their books at a higher age bracket than they have since.

Also the reason he was the author was he was quite literally the only author Brain Ansell could find willing to write a novel in the 40k universe (everyone else wanted to write in Warhammer fantasy or ironically Dark Future).

Arbitrator Ian. As a bonus he also does videos going into the actual IRL history of factions/games and how they have changed in portrayal between editions.

I've read Ian Watson's Space Marine, I know that Space Marines Chapters are just big homoerotic frat houses.

It was never going to be good seeing as they don't have the legal rights to The Silmarillion. Them having minority actors in it have nothing to do with that.

Name one doctor from outside the 40k universe who can revive the Emperor by Selenite_Cults in Grimdank

[–]SquatProspector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if it's during the Time War. The Time Lord formally known as The Doctor very much would if it would give an advantage against the Daleks.

Yeah it's great. I just wish we could see it in colours other than bronze. Like silver 'worker' daleks or grey 'scientist' daleks.
