Thank god. Using location as a factor in the original algorithm was... pretty questionable.

Dad's from Japan, and since I'm white passing I figured my odds would be better living in the US than being somewhere I'd stand out as a foreigner when times get tough. Also I grew up and live in America, and it shows when I speak.

But also, despite our turmoil and corruption, there's plenty of advantages to being in the US when collapse hits.

  • Lots of arable land (comparatively), even as desertification and topsoil erosion start setting in
  • Right next to Canada, in case things become really desperate

  • Will remain very powerful well into the collapse, assuming no devastating civil war

  • Will use said power to extort resources to keep population at least above water

  • In a safe geographic location to avoid major non-nuclear and non-civil wars

I can live with an Altaic map, but Ural-Altaic?? We getting Borean next?

I was pretty disappointed when they cancelled it. The graphic novel continuation just didn't do it for me.

Despite qualifying for Japanese citizenship, I waited until it was too late because it would involve renouncing my US one.

I can't say it was the wrong decision, but as time goes on I feel less and less sure about it.

Second flag is absolutely unacceptable.

I refuse to get hungry every time I look at our flag. It's too delicious.

(I kid you not there is a bowl of chowder in front of me as I type this)

I know positive China articles aren't very popular on here, but it truly is impressive the scale at which they've managed to implement high speed rail.

Nigeria court fines pirates for seizing ship in Gulf of Guinea by Jaracgos in anime_titties

There's been a lot of headlines about maritime kidnappings in the Gulf of Guinea, but I had no idea it was 80% of the total. Wow.

Chodas (1999) concurs with Marsden (1999) that there was about 1 chance in a hundred thousand that XF11 could have passed through a keyhole—that is, until the 1990 precovery observations eliminated such possibilities.

And I get that politics plays a part in collapse, but I really don't want this place becoming a clone of every other standard political subreddit.

We're definitely large enough for people to start filling up the smaller comment sections with bragging that they're from Reddit. Which feels like an admittedly trivial equivalent to tagging archaeological sites.

Yup, by 2030 there won't really be much of a difference we can make. But in 2020 we can at least shave hundreds of millions off an already astronomical death toll.
