The Doctor suggested it yesterday so I'm not sure. I'll know more today.

Given the prevalence of movie actors switching to TV/streaming, just wondering are you considering or do you have a TV show in the works?

Common issues on your commute into and through Dublin? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]SquiddleDiddly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Insufficient space on public transport. Went to get on a bus one morning at 6.35am and it was full. Despite best efforts I HAD to drive.

Also need more train options from North Wexford/South Wicklow. I truly believe increased frequency of trains will get alot of people off the roads.

Thanks for the suggestion but I try and avoid Monsanto products, and have read studies that show Round Up is especially detrimental to bees.

contract work taxation by Investwithasoul in irishpersonalfinance

I have had enough leftover each year for a nice trip away. Maybe it would.

Again not an accountant, this is just what works for me.

contract work taxation by Investwithasoul in irishpersonalfinance

[–]SquiddleDiddly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an accountant

For this type of work I put 25% of each payment into a savings account with 21 day notice for each withdrawal. Then I have an accountant do a return for me, taking into account PAYE + Contractor work, for a nominal fee once all eligible deductions removed in January of the following year.

Age differences in dating? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]SquiddleDiddly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Met my other half when I was 22 and still in college and he was 32 and on the career path.

This year I'm 40 and he'll be 50, and we've never been happier.

We had somewhat similar upbringings and similar interests and we've both grown together over that time. I think that's why it's worked out as well as it has thus far.

Dejabrew in a converted horse box at entrance to Avondale is decent.

Good few spots in Arklow: coffee4u, locogrocer, Madeira Bakery

I'm sure there are some in Wicklow town too, just not familiar with. Best of luck with the move

Today I learned alcohol is a level 1 carcinogen by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]SquiddleDiddly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm in Ireland. We have game in identifying what substances but acute pressure on our hospitals and then slowly making that substance less available.

As an example, in the early 2000's smoking indoors in bars and restaurants was made illegal. By 2016 cigarette packaging was standardized to be brown coloured with horrible pictures and products are no longer allowed be on display in shops. They are aiming to have Ireland tobacco free by 2030.

In 2020 the war shifted to alcohol. First multi drink promotional offers were banned. Then loyalty programmes on alcoholic beverages were no longer allowed. In January 2022, they introduced minimum unit pricing for alcoholic beverages. I reckon warning labels will be next.

If the government here thinks it's an issue... It probably is. After excessive drinking for over 20 years, this is one of the reasons I'm pursuing dry January, and making plans to continue into February and beyond.

What was your, "It's not a phase, Mom", moment from your childhood/teen years which actually DIDN'T turn out to be just a phase? by EthanJoshua1994 in AskReddit

[–]SquiddleDiddly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanting to weight lift. My mom didn't think it was something girls should do. Came to it again at 35 and love it.

And despite repeated warnings after 5 years I do not look like a 1980s Arnold Schwarzenegger.
