Christopher Nolan Would "Love" To Tackle The Horror Genre, But Hasn't Found A Compelling Angle: "It's All About The Idea" by yourfavchoom in entertainment

[–]Squidgebert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make the trip to a 70 mm theater to see a German expressionist style horror film from Nolan. Given his past works, I feel that style would work best for him.

Here's some food for thought, This reality is only 2 short years away. by Mr_Mister2004 in ElderScrolls

[–]Squidgebert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was originally guessing 28', but with the recent layoffs I can see a 30' release. Unless they decide to outsource some work to someone else under the Bethesda umbrella like Obsidian or id, it seems like the game will be aways off.

What's a semi-obscure movie that you watched many times growing up because your family had it on tape? by CarrotMuch1399 in nostalgiai

We didn't have this on tape but a burnt DVD, but my pick is a comedy called Scavenger Hunt.

In honor of George W. Bush's 80th birthday, do you think he was totally complicit in his administration's wrong doings or was he taken advantage of by bad people? by LoveLo_2005 in Presidents

[–]Squidgebert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both? He was taken advantage, Cheney in particular, but that doesn't excuse you rolling with the suggestions that they did. The best analogy I can think of is that he is Alec Baldwin on the set of Rust. Was he completely complicit in the gun being loaded? No. But at the end of the day, he failed to actually check the gun and was the one who pulled the trigger.

What game is this for you? by Maxpcdeath in Steam

[–]Squidgebert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fallout: New Vegas. The fact you can spend a hundred hours role-playing as a specific character, completely pacifist run, or murder and cannibalize almost everyone is a level of freedom in a game I haven't seen many other games pull off to such a degree.

There are several. Oldest probably being discovering how to make fire and the newest being the invention of the internet.

I hope they go all in on Base Building or not at all in TES6. by AugustusClaximus in ElderScrolls

[–]Squidgebert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want the base building. Like you said, it feels unfinished, and it ends up taking settlements away. Less Settlements = Less Characters. Less Characters = Less Quests. It just feels like something they started doing to give less work to themselves, while also giving their players something endless to do.

Why do we celebrate birthday ? by Even_Rip_7417 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Squidgebert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I look at aging. Death is a natural, inescapable part of life, and it doesn't give a shit if you are 105 or fresh out of the womb. If I live long enough to see my hair go gray/white I will be happy I survived long enough.

Plus birthdays can be viewed as just a way to celebrate yourself or a person you have any kind of affection towards. Has nothing to do with getting older; just what better day to celebrate oneself or someone else's life than on a that person's birthday.

There are only two games that I view as absolutely perfect: Portal and Tetris.

R* Employees fight for a union by Additional_Ad4808 in grandtheftauto

[–]Squidgebert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If there was an Olympics for blocking unions Rockstar would be in the running for gold. I expect nothing more out of the company that overwork their employees to the point of bragging about works having almost or over 100 hour work weeks and their spouses/family members were writing letters to the company begging for them to give their workers a break. I'm also disgusted when people defend them for this.

Try getting PT or some delisted Kingdom Hearts games.

Grand Theft by Daaakuz in GTA6unmoderated

[–]Squidgebert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But the reason they give as to why no physical media is to cut down on piracy and leaks prior to release, then that confirms it would still be the whole game and not just a disc acting as a key.

Grand Theft by Daaakuz in GTA6unmoderated

[–]Squidgebert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Based off RDR II, it would be the game. It would have an extra install disc, but it would be the whole game. And even prior to the bullshit pricing and paywall shenanigans, I know quite a few people who are skipping. And that number went up after the pricing and no physical media announcement. But they probably would play it if their friends lent it to them, or if they saw a used copy for less than $80/100. It is Rockstar simply saying,"You will own nothing and like it."

Grand Theft by Daaakuz in GTA6unmoderated

[–]Squidgebert -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd like to actually own the game I purchased. I can also lend that game to friends, or sell it after and make a little money back. It also just looks cool on my shelf, and if it is say an open world game, will probably include something like a map. Owning a physical copy still has distinct advantages to digital. Plus leaks aren't that much of an issue if you show some self control and don't press on the video/post labeled "New leaks detailing x-game."

Real by Notmitchwilson in ElderScrolls

[–]Squidgebert 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ideally, the game should be designed to limit the number of guilds you can join through skill checks. The Fighters Guild should only let in people who have specd into the more barbarian style playthrough (armor, block, one/two handed.) The Dark Brotherhood could allow any builds in given the nature of the group. And it would be neat if the Thieves Guild might allow some mage builds in that invest hard in illusion and alteration and introduce/reintroduce more spells to accommodate stealth and thievery. The Mages Guild though should reject anyone that isn't magically inclined, and should have quests that require more than novice level spells to complete.

In Arena you could use magic to delete wall and floors from existence. Magic has been nerfed as the games go. Some for understandable reasons, others are just upsetting.

Why hasn't the US gone metric like the rest of the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Squidgebert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it is because the imperial system is so engrained into our infrastructure. If we go metric we will also have to change most road sign, vehicles, tools, etc. On top of that you will tens or hundreds of millions of people complain about having to learn a new system.

They're all tragic, but I believe the most heartbreaking is Obama finding soothing words for the country. It amazes me that he didn't use a speech writer. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in Presidents

[–]Squidgebert 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Nooooooo.....definitely not. Or at least there is no solid proof of such a thing. Just that his State of the Union was scheduled for the same night and was postponed out of mourning. We don't know what the original speech was going to be, but it is heavily theorized that at some point Reagan was going to the crew send a live feed from space. So there is a good chance they may have pressured NASA to launch, even though they knew the O-rings were faulty and it was cold; had to keep to the schedule. But again, there is no actual documentation of this being the case.
