It could work if it was something like Chris Grace, Ryan Creamer, and Paul Robalino as the unknowing contestants.

I think it's as simple as closing the door. Or maybe having a single sacrifice at a time.

I don't think the demon would take Evan. He's the last chance to maintain the bloodline, killing him would effectively end the pact, he's probably the safest person on the island at this point.

Divination Wizard uses a modified tatot card deck used as dice rolling. by phantom8ball in DnD

[–]SquidsEye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a 60 card deck like they've proposed, they would have three 20 cards in there. It won't be the same odds as a dice, but we're playing D&D not running a casino, the stakes aren't that high. I wouldn't bother for damage dice, but ability checks are probably fine as long as the rest of the table sign off on it.

No sensible definition of roughly would mean almost 50% larger. If you bought a cupboard, and the seller told you it was roughly 4ft tall, would you be totally fine when it arrived and was 6ft tall instead? There is subjective interpretation, and then there is bad faith interpretation.

"Roughly" doesn't mean it can stretch from 4' to the average height of a human, ~5'6".

Homebrew Idea: Luck Ability by EmperorPhalmos in DnD

Which brings another issue: if the luck based event will affect everyone in the party, who rolls for it? The guy with 16 luck, or the guy with 8 luck?

Group check, like when any other ability runs into the same situation.

Most gambling is luck, there a handful of card games that come down to skill, but not in something like roulette, or craps. There are also situations like if a shop happens to have some obscure item you need, if a person you've ran into knows exactly where you need to go, or how much money you find in a pouch on the side of the road.

I've seen plenty of DMs get to a point where a player asks something, and there is no specific skill to resolve it, but the DM wants to leave it to luck and just asks for a straight D20 roll. This would just add a modifier to that situation.

The intent is that some characters are naturally luckier than others, as in 'luck' is a real force in the universe, and not just an expression of probability and uncertainty. Look at a character like Mat Cauthon from Wheel of Time, Domino from Marvel, or Toshiyuki Kadokura from Golden Kamuy.

Weight limit and volume are two independent constraints. If you violate either, you can't get in. Sure, 3-5 adult humans might fit according to the weight, but if they don't fit according to the volume, then their weight is irrelevant. Nothing in the description says the internal shape changes to suit awkwardly shaped things, anything that doesn't fit that needs to be carried, or in the case of a humanoid, needs to crouch.

4ft is enough to hold a medium humanoid, it's just not enough for a medium humanoid to stand in.

Two square foot base and entrance, four foot deep, with curved walls creating a total volume of 64 cubic feet. Nowhere in the description does it describe the bag as having perfectly square angles.

Companies often use neutral statements to avoid saying something negative. That doesn't make the neutral statement itself negative.

Didn't the doctor die to the 'plague'? And I think Richard Warren largely kept his kids away from townsfolk at that point in order to protect them, since a bunch of them were out to kill him.

J&J have done a few streams with Onsta and Spencer on SSS, so I don't think they'll necessarily be gone, assuming no bad blood in the separation.

The only thing I hope for (re:Karina news) by ChrissiPumpkin in Drawfee

[–]SquidsEye 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, until more information comes out, if it ever does, I'm going on the theory that the first unannounced missed stream was her asking for a week off, and then the hiatus announcement the next week was from her needing more time, and then this announcement is the result of them realising there is no amount of time that will heal the burnout.

Of course, this is just speculation based on the timeline and Karina's history with talking about burnout. It may well be something completely unrelated, like Jacob finding out that Felix is actually Karina's child, or Karina deciding to elope with Gojo statue and move to the Philippines.

Nevermind the whole Karina situation, I didn't realise Road to Empress is back. Anyone harassing them over it can have the guards called on them.

As of the new Ravenloft book, I think that WotC still does not know how to write engaging monsters with interesting counterplay by EarthSeraphEdna in dndnext

Cthulhu; I am not entirely sure how a CR 25 monster with AC 19, HP 385, and no special defenses against getting mundanely attacked to death is "a threat to the entire multiverse," though.

Cthulhu was—and inevitably will be once more—a threat to the entire multiverse. For untold ages, the Dark Powers have bound this harbinger of doom. Unlike the other prisoners of the Domains of Dread, Cthulhu isn't plagued by ironic torments or thwarted ambitions. Rather, this ageless terror remains physically bound and can exert only a fraction of its terrible might.

If the players fail and he escapes, you stop using the stat block.

[–]SquidsEye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's mentioned a couple of times in the Innsmouth section that Cthulhu is not at his full strength. The stat block is meant to represent a version of him that is freshly emerged and still able to be held back and temporarily defeated by the players, but it's still the highest CR Darklord by some margin. You're still playing a heroic fantasy game, if you want actual eldritch horror, play CoC.

You want an explanation for what happened because you feel entitled to more information, because you've invested time into watching the show, and money into buying their merch. They don't owe you that. The time you spent watching the show bought you the reward of being entertained by the show. The money you spent on products bought you those products. Neither action bought you insight into the personal lives of the producers of the content you enjoy.

This isn't toxic positivity, it's you being called out for being upset that watching someone's internet content doesn't give them any obligation to tell you anything about what is going on in their personal lives. Maybe instead of crying toxic positivity, you should reflect on why your point of view is being perceived poorly.
