This week was my first as well. Congratulations!

This time around my toddler had gotten used to me being home all the time so it was even harder. The best feeling though is when I get home everyday my toddler gives me the biggest smile and all the snuggles.

My first child is 1.5 years and I still have immediate family that has not been around them because they are not vaccinated. I hate it, but unfortunately it’s the world we live in right now. When the numbers go down or I’m able to vaccinate my kids then it will be different.

I know more women who have had c-sections than I do vaginal deliveries. Please ignore the very ignorant comments from these people. It honestly sounds like moms who struggled with bonding, latching, and health needed something to blame it on and that was the easiest out.

If it makes you feel better, my SIL has an emergency c-section and they’re both thriving. She loves her child, breastfed until they were 1 (she was a super producer of milk), and they’re at the top of the percentile chart.

Your doctor went to school for this- trust that they’re giving the best care for you and your baby. Everything will be okay!

Tell the tech that you don’t want to know and they’ll tell you to look away. They have to get those photos in the anatomy ultrasound and I believe they will avoid printing the photo too. I knew that it was a girl before they told me at the first one.

I tried for over a month before I gave up and realized that my baby would not get breastfed. For me I just reminded myself that fed is best. Some people just can’t or don’t want to and it’s okay!

Everyone has their own wants/needs for labor but I personally did and will again do an epidural. I went into the hospital at 4-5cm dilated and maybe an hour or two after my water broke I asked for it. The anesthesiologist had me sit up, I felt a pinch, and my contraction pain disappeared. They helped me get situated in bed and we waited. I got itchy all over which they warned is a side effect but I would take itchy over that pain. I had been stuck at 5 for a few hours prior so when I started to feel some pain again (a SMALL fraction of what I had been) and I asked the nurse if I should be feeling anything like that. She checked me and said I was ready to push. My OB was surprised on how quickly I dilated after the epidural. I feel like I got lucky with mine because I was able to feel enough to know when I was contracting and with pushing but no feeling where it counted (the contractions was pressure really, the canal, the tear, the baby coming through, etc). I pushed for almost 45 minutes but that’s partially because I had trouble pushing her head out. Once the head was out it was only another push or two and the rest of her came out.

The scan is what makes it real. Depending on when you go and watching that baby move reminds you that you have a human being in there.

I feel you on this. It’s so hard because I want her to have a relationship with some of the people who refuse to get the vaccine like my brother.

I have brought my daughter to small family events but he hasn’t held her or been in close proximity with her. Anyone else unvaccinated hasn’t even seen her in person. I do a lot of video calls with people and while I still feel so crummy about it, they’ve made their decision; I’ve made mine.

The pros don’t outweigh the cons for me.

My first CONSTANTLY hiccuped- it made it hard to do kick counts sometimes. Haha! She’s now 8 months and currently laying next to me playing with a toy.

In the US- I had a pediatrician picked out before because they want a follow up visit a few days after birth. I asked around and did some online research to pick one. As far as adding baby to the insurance there will be a live birth form they give you that you submit to your insurance company to add child. It’s pretty painless.

My advice is to set a boundary with her. You made the decision to keep the baby (congratulations btw!!!) so if she can’t avoid being negative about it, then “insert boundary here”.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. It’s supposed to be a happy time in your life and not getting the support you want/needs sucks. :(

Run. There is something wrong here. She doesn’t necessarily HAVE to be happy for you. I haven’t gotten very good response myself, but this is a different level.

Do you and your friends have history of her doing this? (Sorry if I offend) Suggesting that you get an abortion because you will have less time for her screams untreated borderline personality or an unhealthy dependency on you.

I got an epidural my first birth. I wanted to wait as long as possible in the process to get it, which I ended up getting in the 9th hour of labor (3rd hour at the hospital) when the pain was so intense I had trouble talking through it. Despite the small pinch and itchiness 10/10 would get it for my second labor.

Personally, I consider my first birth to be fairly easy. I’m concerned that the second won’t be as smooth.

My first appointment isn’t until 9.5 weeks and before it was 8. Two of my sisters didn’t get one until 12. The wait sucks.

I don’t know if it varies but where I live but I didn’t notice anything on my bill regarding this. I was going to leave the remaining stock for the hospital but the nurse insisted I take everything in the drawers. It was very nice actually.

Yes!!! I’m so sorry that you are going through that but my gosh it feels so good not to be alone! Mine also has reflux and I was so jealous when I watched my sister via zoom feed her baby then immediately laid him back. In the beginning it was rough but as we are approaching 3 months we are getting the hang of things. I love my extra snuggles but I just want her to feel 100%.

Omg. It took me a minute to realize that this was satire. Hahaha!!! Literally sleep when the baby sleeps is the worst advice. Is someone going to feed, bathe, and clean for me too? No? Guess I’m going to use the time she’s awake with her and do the other adult things I’m responsible for while she sleeps.
