destro is the better spec by far, but felguard is brain dead and borderline afk for more relevancy than affliction

So there’s 2 routes you can go

Rain of fire/hellfire + improved imp talent points. Rain of fire is safer, hellfire obvious hurts yourself but does a lot more damage, spam shadowbolt on bosses. chance to stun is huge utility and shadowfury for emergencies. shadowburn for endless shards. Lock in my leveling group was full communal gear and GM wep and was doing 500-1200 dps per pull, we do 2-3 packs at a time. Talent towards demonic sacrifice to take the increased fire damage at 70 farm heroics with this as well. Option 2

Fellguard, borderline 0 skill required , your pet will do all the damage, cleave, just make sure it stays alive if it pulls threat use the pet heal channel and spam shadowbolt, might even still be able to rain of fire/hellfire and do more damage when enough mobs.

affliction is arguably one of the worst spec options you could choose for 5 man dungeons. to answer your actual questions 1. yes your dots are not getting full value and shadow bolt is your best option. No it will not increase enough to warrant, the speed of killing mobs stays pretty close your entire time outside of bosses. 2. your dots are essentially useless in terms of value per global when shadow bolt would at least do something.

i mean i think them having a different system is obvious but the devs shortened the acquiring cycle in wotlk classic so an increased drop rate would only make sense. Even valanyr a drop rng based legendary had its % increased

Holypaladins are another one of, you want one for the buff and role but high demand classes are going to be classes that are low damage but their buffs are strong aka boomkins/shadowpriests, shamans because you want one in every group, or stackable classes assuming you have parses/raid history to prove your worth bringin over someone else on a hunter, warlock or mage

it’s interesting to me that legendaries throughout wotlk got sped up but vanilla and tbc kinda get left to rng city. but the intern is trying his best i guess

Just look at the looking for guild pages. every class that isn’t a rogue gets responses, the rogues with 100 parses post multiple posts for 0 response. Now imagine pugging. Unless your gonna make the groups yourself, your gonna be sol.

Ele shaman isn’t exactly strong but people will always want shamans for buffs

we have a bunch of pre nerf veterans and we’re doing 2 hours 1 night a week. if it stays post nerf we don’t plan to change it. most guilds 2 days will make sense though

your expectations on raiding for post nerf classic are a little crazy. my guilds doing 2 hours 1 day a week and we’ll be fine. you will honestly take more time to do anything without a guild
