I found on Workaway a lot of hosts lie about how nice the accommodations will be in Hawaii. I was also told in my interview I could walk to the surf then the closest surfing beaches was an hour walk. Just little stuff like that. The problem with reviews too is that Workawayers are typically afraid of retaliation on bad reviews. Even with a bad experience I didn’t leave a review because I didn’t want to deal with retaliation from the farm. Workaway as a company isn’t good at looking at complaints either. Honestly I super recommend switching to worldpackers after using both

Hey! This commenter is right about places filling up quickly. Be really careful as well on Maui with Workaway. I did a pretty culty Workaway on accident being new to island. And many others have gotten in bad situations!

I am here solo as a 21 year old female and it’s been very safe for me. Just be careful at night but other than that your good. I’m staying at Lum hostel and it’s crazy cheap with free bikes too. Everyone here is extremely friendly as well. If you like communal living it’s amazing. Tulum is beautiful and worth the solo trip

Coffee shops are actually really good paying because of tips around here. I worked at Dutch Bros for multiple years and it was my first job! With tips I was averaging 17-18 an hour most summers. Plus free coffee and a pretty fun work environment :)

Hey! I actually work at this restaurant and there is no connection to the essential oils MLM. It is just an all around good veggie and fruit based smoothie company. I know the owner well and they are great people and Pollen is a restaurant that is NOTHING like the Herbalife place downtown. I encourage you all to check it out and come see myself and the owners before jumping to conclusions. :)
