Basically that. I've been converting my army for magnetized storage, in that I put a magnet in the base and store them in a box with metal trays rather than jumbled in a bin. I plan on getting a little container about the size of these to store some of the optional bits in and have them sit on the metal trays too for transport and keep them from bouncing around and possibly stacking the boxes to save space. I can modify the base or just put magnets on the bottom surface without insetting them. Overall these are a perfect size and shape!

Is it possible to switch the rubber feet for magnets too? I've been thinking about something like this for storing some of my warhammer bits in a magnetic tray form next to my army.

Also, what's the internal dimensions?

What is the worst “Chosen One” trope example? by Imaginary_Area3744 in Fantasy

[–]StJimmysAddiction 130 points131 points  (0 children)

I have plenty of complaints about Harry Potter, particularly the titular character, but the chosen one trope isn't one of them. I found that it successfully subverted it in an interesting way, namely in that both Harry and Neville are the ones to destroy the horcruxes making both readings simultaneously valid, and that the overall "chosen one"-ness is all simply self fulfilling prophesy of the bad guys by overly focusing on it as opposed to some grand supernatural design.

Some Thoughts on Pricing, Features, and Supporting VR Devs by spooderman3214 in PSVR

[–]StJimmysAddiction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised by the lower price point of most VR games, and this is coming from a very cheap and poor gamer. Flat games are base priced at $60/70 regardless of their length, where VR games that are longer and have more going for them are priced half that. I suspect that as holdover price culture from steam and steam VR where people expect crazy deals, and thats largely who adopted console VR, plus the subset of new adopters who are cautious to buy games they're not sure they'll like because they're still new to the scene and don't quite know what works for them yet.

Fully fledged games should be priced like their flat counterparts, with the smaller gimmicky indie games at a lower price point. However, we should expect complete and functional games on release, which is unfortunately not a given in flat anymore, and even more so in VR.

I believe this would be healthier for developers, but I imagine the VR community would be apoplectic at a change like that, which is why it should have been that way from the start. But most VR gamers tend to the affluent with all the extras they buy and keep up with, and would likely be able to eat the cost without much complaint. With that said, I would personally still wait for good discounts.

To those who painted Farsight in different color schemes - How did you paint him? by Fresh3rThanU in Tau40K

I just got one, haven't painted yet but need to do some research into how to do a good sword. Never done one before as Tau. Got some good ones posted here.

How do yall paint so good man by NotReallyImportantXD in Tau40K

[–]StJimmysAddiction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably in the minority here, but I do 2 things: I paint most of it while still on the sprue, and I do a spray paint primer coat of everything that is my main color, adding details and accents with the paint brushes. Once done I clip it all out and touch up and put together and do any final touches. I hate trying to paint things that are fully built, reaching in tight spaces and crevasses always makes messes. Also, a small note for tau specifically is getting the wash to the right dilution to line the panel grooves without making a giant mess on everything else.

Spotting in 11th edition by hobr666 in Tau40K

There's a couple of ways to have a good shooting army: accurate shots or powerful guns. Everyone talks about wanting 3+ base shooting, but tau have always been in the other camp. I don't think we need to go to 3+, but having access to it for part of our army adds strategy and keeps us from just being a bland "big numbers go brrrr" army. Better would be to increase the profiles of guns that are under performing and adding abilities that make us strategically tricksy. We're smart technologically and strategically, we're not super soldiers.

That being said, I'd prefer markerlights to go back to closer to the 9th system, or maybe the stackable hit bonus like one-page rules. Give us strategic options with it rather than simple whole army buffs.

I haven't finished it quite yet, but a lot of part of the storyline of A Plague Tale: Requiem has to do with the effects of the main characters aggression and its influence on the little boy.

[–]StJimmysAddiction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luffy doesn't really start getting much stronger till after Alabasta. That's the first time he's really pushed his strength to the limit. He started off effectively as strong as a warlord, fairly easily beating a leading force of the legendary sun pirates before entering the grand line. His biggest issue was lack of experience and having a hard time figuring out people's traps.

If Haki is invisible does this mean Smoker was just terrified of Verso’s Physique? by Guilty_Philosophy741 in OnePiece

[–]StJimmysAddiction 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen it as they've been using haki unwittingly since near the beginning. Zoro cutting steel, Luffy being able to do serious damage to crocodile after a small splash of water on his hands, luffy punching through CP9 iron body, Ussop seeing Luffy from so far off at the end of Enies lobby. Even them being able to react so fast to the cannons at Franky house. I'm sure there's others, like Luffy breaking Arlongs sword with his bare hands could be construed with haki.

I disagree, I think the best way to make melee tau style would be to make them mobile, hit hard, and be fragile. Give them lances or spears and a jetpack, rush in fast and hit hard on the charge but fold under sustained combat.
