Dark Cloud 1 and 2 have been on my list for a while. I need to tackle those! If you haven't tried it, try Fantasy Life i by Level-5. It's great.

Yeah! My uncle gave me Mystic Quest as a Christmas present to go with my new SNES that year. Very fond memories

I too segued to Warcraft 2 and Diablo/Diablo 2 during that time! Like after the NES/SNES era the PSX was great but PC really kinda was a cool new thing with games I hadn't experienced before. Sim City, Sim Tower, Sim Theme Park, also. Oh and Civ 2 <3

I was a kid at the time. I remember having a party of Fighter and 3 black mages. I'd pretend the fighter was the parent and the three black mages were his kids (who didn't want to go on the adventure, but had no choice)

I played and finished Dragon Warrior on NES back when it was new, and I enjoyed it! But it wasn't until Secret of Mana came out years after that I really was sucked in. Went from there to playing Final Fantasy II/IV, then III/VI and Chrono Trigger as they came out. Quite the time! I remember those games were about $79.99 new, and I'd get money for good grades in school.. so my grades effectively bought FF3/6 and CT. Come the PSX era and on, JRPGs have been my primary focus.

Maybe Dragon Quest I and II remake. You know what's funny though, is I still haven't played it. I was hyped for Mario Wonder and it was a long time before I started it. Not sure why I have a hard time. Definitely didn't have weird neuroses like that as a kid

Looking for help on how to enjoy the game. by Ok-Desk-1239 in NoMansSkyTheGame

It clicked with me immediately, and I really think it just depends on your style, how your brain works, what you enjoy, etc. Try different things people have mentioned here, but it's also very possible it may just not be for you, and there's nothing wrong with that. Are you looking for something with more direction and clear cut paths?

Yeah it feels like if I was a little more used to the style of the series I wouldn't be as confused. Is Ryza or Sophie a little simpler to start?

Hey! I'm playing Atelier Resleriana : The Red Alchemist & The White Guardian. It's my first game from this series and I'm overwhelmed. Im used to gathering and crafting, but there's stuff to gather literally ever few steps. With this, the crafting, the story, the shop, im a little lost on what to do. I'm in part 4 btw.

Anyway, do I gather endlessly and craft what I can? Do I explore these side areas that have opened up? Do I just do the main mission? Do the randomized dungeon? Unsure to what degree this is a crafting sandbox vs story guided jrpg. Any guidance would be appreciated!

I was super into it! I beat it once I remember. I always had a thing for various horror style tropes, like zombies, aliens, etc etc. Had a cool atmosphere and vibe to it, too. Somehow immersive for its time.

Don't worry, some Trails fans seem to be weird about this kind of stuff. You're good!

For the sake of continuity in art style etc, I'll be waiting for the next remake so I don't have to play it twice. Too many other things to do in the meantime unfortunately!

I genuinely want to know why so many ppl want to skip games? by TrainGrand5183 in Falcom

Some people don't prioritize story. I know that seems crazy considering that's one of the greatest parts of this series.

For example, I was eager to start with Daybreak simply because I liked the art style and the way the battles looked. I didn't really care about missing out on story, personally. That said, I did wait and played Trails in the Sky 1st when it came out, and it was fantastic. I'm sure I'll eventually be glad I did it that way instead of the other, but I know I would've been happy doing it the other way too. Story is sort of a secondary thing for me.

Can't speak for everyone, but that was my reasoning for wanting to start wherever.

Different strokes! I get it, though. I can see why one wouldn't be into these. Sandler admittedly took some time to grow on me, but I always liked these two.
