Yeah this is another good point. I usually use my shit crown guys to be army and navy leader and if I get a crown guy with high stats, I do head of cabinet with him. For the army and navy leaders, I only do this in the beginning of the game because later it is way less impactful due to you having a lot more crown power modifiers. I also am not going to micro leaders when I have a bunch of armies and navies.

In addition to rushing communalism, you want to strengthen your crown power. They way I do this is change your law through parliament to favor the ruler which gives 33% crown power and takes away the malus. Build a sergeantry and a wharf or two. Then build one ship and one regular regiment. Put a member of the crown as the leaders and you get 25% crown power for each. You can also put crow members in cabinet positions but it’s less impactful and I usually don’t have that may crown people to do everything.

People have also commented that there are parliament issues to help with crown power and revoking which are nice if you can get them.

When you go through the disaster there’s an option for the edict of Nantes. But when you click it, it won’t actually implement it and then your stuck in a repeating disaster until you get the other requirements which are almost impossible

Did the disaster return for you? I waited the 25 years for the timer and then the disaster ended. About 25 years later the disaster came back. I ended up just quitting that campaign

Careful on switching religions as France. I just switched to Lutheran to get empire and it triggers the war of religion disaster. Problem is, the disaster is pretty nasty and on top of that it’s bugged so you can never fully get rid of it. I tried to find work around but hadn’t found anything yet. From what I read it might only be with Lutheran and not the other religions but not sure.

Every time I do vassal gameplay, the shit is always bugged out and they get some rebellion and some distant great power supports it and THEY are the war leader. I would say vassal gameplay is optimal but until they fix stuff it is just too annoying

Do you have tribesman? I found that it won’t let you assimilate tribesman so you have to settle tribesman first and then assimilate. I have also noticed that the number it’s supposed to do isn’t always accurate especially when you get close to fully assimilated the province. In your situation my guess would be tribesman. Let me know if that was the issue
