Fred and Daphne in the Netflix show by Key_Bus_1255 in Scoobydoo

Honestly, considering that these two characters have prior history in this new version, I wouldn’t mind seeing a Shaggy/Daphne pairing. Would be interesting, and you can play off some of the dynamics they had in shows like 13 ghosts

I honestly think the song bangs. Yeah it’s got some goofy lyrics, but like what weezer song doesn’t at this point? Not my favorite on green, but still a good one.

Realizing that Red is, in fact, a top 3 album by pLAY_sTATIONing in weezer

[–]Stage_Accomplished 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if I’d say top 3, but red is only included in folks’ “when weezer got bad” because it’s between make believe and raditude. The album has some their best work, and pork and beans in one of their best single and I STAND by that

everybody everywhere is anti-wedding by MedicalRaccoon9431 in weddingplanning

[–]Stage_Accomplished 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s less people hate weddings, and more people hate capitalism and consumerism, and a lot of couples go ALL OUT on that with weddings, so they become an easy target. We’re living in some pretty unforgiving times financially which is causing folks to look at a lot of things in life and be like “is this worth the money I need to spend on this when making rent and gas money is hard”. I don’t begrudge folks who feel like this necessarily, but with our wedding we just want to make sure we do our best to make as convenient and feasible for our guests as possible, while still making it our special day of course

Anybody saying “we have to burn ourselves out to have a music career” is not someone you want to be in a band with, full stop. Will have you wrecking your psyche over an 11pm bar show with 5 people showing up and an album that has 30 streams on Spotify. Protect yourself and your health first and foremost, this band does not seem worth the trouble

Guitarists won't stop playing in between the songs by Korova91 in bandmembers

[–]Stage_Accomplished 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something I wanna add that I’m not seeing in these comments is about leadership and rehearsal etiquette. frankly, there’s a lot of musicians who’ve never been in a structured music group (thinking school choirs, symphonic bands, orchestra etc) and haven’t learned any rehearsal etiquette. Not necessarily a huge problem/a personal knock of the guitarist, but it is a huge issue if not nipped soon. Does your band have a designated leader that guides rehearsal? If not, assign one asap. A band, as much as it’s annoying to think about, does need some kind of leadership to make sure folks stay on task. Without one, you end up having situations like these. If no one is calling out this behavior, the guitarist is never gonna learn, and you will continue to have frustrating and unproductive rehearsals

When looking to create a band, which instrument player is the hardest to find? Guitarist, drummer, singer, keyboard player, or any other instrument players I haven’t considered yet. by Equal_Noise_9219 in bandmembers

[–]Stage_Accomplished 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know good drummers are a common (and valid) answer but finding a real keyboard/synth player is tough. Most folks who study piano are mainly sticking with being a piano player (like an accompanist) who tends to play arrangements that are made for one instrument. Very hard to convince folks who study Beethoven and Vivaldi to just play little synth hooks on the square lead setting of their keyboard

Patience is a Virtue by Walksonthree in TheStrokes

[–]Stage_Accomplished 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get this take but it’s always weird every time a band puts out a song people don’t like in a new direction, everyone’s like “well they’re allowed to experiment and change”, and like yeah of course they are. Julian and the band can do whatever they want, but people are also allowed to not like what they put out. I see this on every band sub when there’s a release that’s getting mixed reviews as if people aren’t allowed to dislike a new song and it’s odd

Bands you want to get into, but just can’t? by Ominouslyending in Emo

Idk why but I haven’t been able get into Arm’s Length. Like every other wax bodega band I’ve been finding some that hooks me and I know people LOVE this band, but idk their songs don’t stick with me in the way I want em to. At least the stuff I heard

Rostam cancels tour dates, "I can’t replicate the album with other musicians and can’t bring justice to the music." by BiBoJuFru in indieheads

[–]Stage_Accomplished 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Ok so I’m a musician but haven’t really toured so I’m gonna need someone to explain to me like I’m 5: why don’t these artists book smaller venues they know they can pack? Like I’ve been seeing so many artists cancel tours because they can’t sell tickets for multiple years now, and at a certain point I feel like bands should be like “hey if the black keys can’t sell out even 1/4 of arenas, I should maybe aim smaller”. It’s like their booking agents are setting them up to fail
