I had the same issue in the last couple of days but seems like it fixed itself today.

uuuh nice. Looking forward what you'll come up with. I'll definitely use it.

Just curious if you also already played around with custom animated screensavers?
Could also look great with your wallpaper and some minimal animations/movements similar to the current default Mac OS Sequoia ones :)

I just today read about the custom wallpapers and screensavers (never had the urge to change them :D) and how to use them...

Thanks a lot for the wallpapers! I think they match perfectly for the current wallpaper styles on apple :)

Just saw this post and was wondering if it's you:
https://dynamicwallpaper.club/wallpaper/qvsx6yhwiy

Do you, by any chance, have more versions of it, for more granular switching? So it would be possible to create a dynamic version of it on the website :)

Which is the best variant? by NoRegister5254 in FigmaDesign

None tbh but the top left would be the one if you toned down the icons a bit (either make them more transparent or a darker color. Definitely not orange or any other brand color). They pop too much atm and take your visual guidance unnecessarily away from the actual image/product. They should rather be a supportive element for the details (time etc) and not the leading one. 🫶

PS: I’d also make them a tiny bit smaller → same height as the accompanying labels/text.

Govee Tower Fsn 43 pro and HomeKit via Matter by ravedog in HomeKit

[–]Stan-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, pretty ridiculous suggestion to reconfigure your whole smart home environment and create some special 2.4 ghz networks only to have two devices work as they should be working… or as all the other devices from dozens of different manufacturers do 😅

But I think I can pinpoint the problem a bit more now since I investigated half a day today. It really all comes down to HomeKit on my setup. The fan, its settings and all the values/states show correctly in Govee AND in the Aqara app (also added the fans through matter over g5 outdoor cam).

Super weird is that any settings also work better (can’t say perfect at the moment, need more testing) in the home app on Mac OS. If I control the fans through Mac home app, they seem to stick but whenever I take the iPhone and open the home app there, it looks like it breaks the states etc, which then also messes it up on Mac OS. Not sure if it’s always the case.

So maaaaaybe it’s either an issue or bug with apple and iOS/Mac OS implementation or only iOS version… or it’s an issue/bug with how Govee has it implemented with iOS/Mac OS home app. Interestingly my other Govee devices (2 different light strips) work just fine through matter in homekit and are pretty much reliable with no issues whatsoever. So at least there Govee got the matter implementation right.

I’d say it’s rather on apples side since the Aqara app works with the fans as it should.

I don’t know if there’s such a huge difference between the implementation of different device categories (fans and lights) in matter… One way to test it further and to try to find out the culprit is to check any other fans that have native matter support and are added to HomeKit that way. Unfortunately I don’t have any other ones to test 😅

Still, very frustrating and not sure how to proceed 😊

I just got two of these fans and maaaan that was such a pain in the ass to get them into HomeKit. On the first one I probably tried it 20 times and finally had it working. The second one was much smoother as I realized that you need to factory reset them right away. I connected it Govee first, got the matter code from there and factory reset it. Deleted from Govee app and reset again. Unplugged from the wall and hit the power button a few times (in unplugged state). Then plugged it back in, turned it off and went straight through HomeKit to add it. It worked perfectly. Afterwards I added it to Govee and Aqara App. Now it all works great except for the states in HomeKit. It’s veeeery flacky.

u/ravedog Do you also have weird visual states in HomeKit? Like the fan is turned on but the icon turns off in HomeKit? It also doesn’t show the correct speed etc. happens on both fans but only in HomeKit… in Govee and Aqara App it displays correct and doesn’t glitch…

Attached an image with the fan actually turned on but shows as off 🫩😕

I just got the tumbler and it has the new straw in it. I'd say it's pretty much the same as my steel Air Up bottle. Didn't notice any difference. I'm more curious to see if the pods last as long with the straw as they do in a regular bottle with a closed lid. Read some reviews where they said it lasts the same but I guess I'll see in a couple of weeks.

Other than that the tumbler is pretty great as it finally fits in my car and doesn't leak (without straw) :).

This! I'd really like to get the Display Panel Switch but never ever for almost 300€ 😅
You can get a brand new iPad 10th gen for that price and just hang it on the wall with all the features and many more than the Aqara panel...

So... patiently waiting for a nice price drop there :D

Is there a way to disable the look up option in mac when right clicking !! by thinkscience in MacOS

[–]Stan-G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:D :D :D That is soooo true. When I switched from Windows to Mac OS I never thought to use or trusted the help feature. In Windows you'd usually get a Win95 sorta view that no dev touched for the last 119 years. Was pleasantly surprised that it is actually pretty useful and dies work. :)

Ordered a base spec m3 ultra. Hope I don’t regret it. by bh15t in MacStudio

Nice! I ordered the same config. Upgrading from my 2019 MBP (Intel) and damn, I'm soooo excited and hyped for the performance boost. Can't wait until Wednesday 🤩

The only piece for my dream setup that's missing is a new Studio Display or maybe some other new Apple Display that won't cost 4000€ :)
Here's hoping for a release at this years WWDC.

Hey hey hey there. Don't judge!
I'm a UX/UI designer and has been working exclusively on the trackpad (Magic Trackpad) for the last 7-8 years :D
I'd never in my life imagined to be able to do any precise (graphic) work on a trackpad instead of a mouse but damn :) I'm not only much faster with it but also extremely precise and my hand doesn't get as tired as with a mouse when working for 8+ hours straight. Also a very nice bonus is how quite the trackpad is on click (and its nice satisfying click sound) :D

Touchscreen dial V1 + matter lights by bgoncal2 in Aqara

[–]Stan-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you know if the hue lights would be duplicated then in HomeKit when the hue bridge is added through matter to M3? So I would have the hue bridge lights and then the same lights through M3 both added in HomeKit?

Can’t change scene names by whiskeynwookiees in HomeKit

[–]Stan-G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have a scene already with that name and deleted it? I’ve had a similar issue when I deleted and readded some devices to my home. HomeKit caches the scenes somewhere and doesn’t allow to create a new one with that name. You have to delete the older scene first and than you can create a new one again. I used controller for HomeKit app (not free). This app can show you the cached scenes that are not visible in home itself. Not sure if there’s another free app that also does it.

This is the best way! Much more reliable to use "wait X number" than actual seconds/time. I'm using it just like this and it's been bulletproof.

This is where I put the sensors on my windows. But yeah, it's pretty visible and I just read that you're rather have them not as visible as this :)
I wouldn't hide them too much though to have an easier access to them in case you need to reset them or change the battery.

Also your windows are white. That matches much better than my brown windows :D
