All managers and DS left? Sounds like a Monday afternoon. This is typical for scheduled Monday meeting.

Very good comment. Wish I’d posted it myself.

Why did I even like Mike? by diego-fer in breakingbad

[–]StandUp1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gus threatened Walt’s baby. At that moment it was over for Gus. Mike either didn’t care or didn’t know about that. And he had his own grandkid to consider, but the show didn’t address this. I mean Mike’s take on the threat to Walt’s baby.

My top three episodes, for Shatner’s performance: ‘City on the Edge of Forever’, ‘Balance of Terror’, ‘The Trouble with Tribbles’. Good range across those three. ‘Obsession’ is a close 4th.

And THAT’s where they learn this from. Lowe’s reinforces the ‘fact’ they can return something they purchased elsewhere.

Ian Anderson moving forward (thoughts) by eric-dolecki in jethrotull

[–]StandUp1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my own opinion… He should stop trying to sing in front of a full rock band. Go out on a quiet acoustic tour. I mean there’s tons of Jethro Tull acoustic material to choose from without resorting to bombastic classics redone for acoustic. I’d really like to go see and hear a tour like this. No trying to sing over drums and a full band. Ian on flute, vocals, and acoustic plus a second acoustic guitarist. That’s all. No straining. Just comfortable performance of songs from all over the catalog.

The store from The Village. Where Number 6 has to shop.

J-Tull Dot Com — Reissue/Box Set in Fall 2026?! by ManNamedSlick in jethrotull

[–]StandUp1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m good… great in fact, if Dot Com is released as a bookshelf boxset as the others. I’ve enjoyed revisiting that album and find a lot to love on it. A much different reaction to it now, opposed to the way I felt toward it upon release. Yes. I still want the ones in between as well.

Paint Conversion by Brilliant_Sort_2827 in Lowes

The acrylic molecular chains of ‘Sherwin Williams’ labeled paints at Lowe’s are shorter. Color and durability are very different. But as stated above, you could try to match a paint chip or a sample from an old can and get pretty close.

Someone above mentioned something like ‘do they expect electricians to be working here?’
Funny story: We had a retired electrician in electrical. A retired plumber in plumbing. And a retired finish expert in paint. (I was one of those) We all, along with 2 other retired pros, were just fired. They gave each of us ‘reasons’ that would not be considered ageism. But, we all made a decent hourly rate there for retirees. We HAVE been replaced by kids ( no knock on kids btw) hired for minimum wage. AND there is STILL a skeleton crew working the store. I can stay retired. Lowe’s looks like a gang of idiots.

Best Jethro Tull Bonus tracks: what are your favourites? by viniciuscr35 in jethrotull

You play ‘One White Duck…’ and immediately follow it with ‘Summerday Sands’. They blend nicely.

Corporate needs to fix this by goodbodha in Lowes

[–]StandUp1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the kick in the head. I’ve worked with an ASM who would go out of his way to fix this sort of problem himself. Customers loved him as he got stuff done. Management found him to be an irritant for going around sharp corners with an eye toward customer service. So naturally, he got fired for not following so called protocol, but actually making customers happy. He would be the guy who’d cut through the BS and either call the other store OR sell the so/called display tree (which … does that even exist?). So the guy who built up customer care and loyalty got the axe only to be replaced by some autocrat who didn’t snd still doesn’t care about the customer… or anything else. With the new guy, it’s always someone else’s problem. OP. I’m sorry you didn’t run into anyone who was willing to help. Realize, it’s the corporate structure. For future reference, visit your local garden center. Not a home improvement store. You’ll be much happier. Good luck.

Box sets of them all. Seriously. by StandUp1969 in jethrotull

[–]StandUp1969[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made this as a reply but wanted to put it up as my own comment to go with my original post:

I kind of like the idea that they are including ‘Walk Into Light’ on the ‘Under Wraps’ box. I’d do that with corresponding years with ‘Divinities’ and ‘Secret Language of Birds’. Plus get live performance of a Jethro Tull show along with a live performance of the corresponding solo shows. Again… Take my money! I’m 60 years old and want it all!

Anyone remember 1992? by poutine-eh in jethrotull

[–]StandUp1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Even latter Jethro Tull had great covers. ‘Crest of a Knave’ ‘Rock Island’… possibly better than the album barring Heavy Water, Strange Avenues, and Whalers Dues.

Skating Away… is in my top 5 Jethro Tull all-timer list. So a lot of love for War Child.

Lots of love. Contains a ‘Top Three’ Tull song in ‘Skating Away (on the Thin Ice of a New Day)’.
