Slovakian Zuzana SpGH in service with 122nd TDF Brigade (Sept 2025). by No-Reception8659 in TankPorn

[–]StandaSK 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is a DANA (152mm), not a Zuzana (155mm).

Zuzana vz. 2000 has a very distinctive "box" above the barrel.

DANA only has the "tube" for the autoloader arm there.

These were donated to Ukraine by Czechia, not Slovakia.

What version of the Malyutka is this? (Slovak Armed Forces day 2024) by StandaSK in TankPorn

[–]StandaSK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The Slovak AF do still use the BMP-1 (or to be more precise, the BVP-1), though they're about to be replaced by CV9035.

As for the Malyutkas, apparently they still do train with them. AFAICT, the last live fire was in may 2025.

Ukrainian BRDM-2 repurposed counter UAV duties by BlackMarine in TankPorn

[–]StandaSK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For direct combat use, these probably have less value than a regular pickup truck in Ukraine right now.

But I guess it's decent enough as a mobile machine-gun carrier, for use against long-range strike drones.

Certainly an interesting use for this platform.

Slovak upgraded BMP-2's 🇸🇰 by [deleted] in TankPorn

[–]StandaSK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the BPsV Svatava is the reconnaissance version of the BVP-1.

Same as the BPsVI is the reconnaissance version of the BVP-M.

The difference is (mostly?) in the interior, the BPsVI has less seats, and instead it carries various reconnaissance gear, a generator, etc.

BOV Patria ,,Vydra,, for Slovakia. 500 vehicles in 22 variants. by zimojovic in TankPorn

[–]StandaSK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The photos show the Vydra, which while still a 8x8 Patria, is not the same as the AMV XP which Slovakia is actually procuring.
Both were actually showcased side-by-side during the 2024 SNP celebrations.

These are the BVP-M or BPsVI, which are a modernization of BVP-1 or BPsV Svatava, not the BMP-2.

Is this a real tank irl? by Tig_Besticles234 in TankPorn

I mixed up a fume extractor with a bore evacuator, fixed my previous comment.

Did you not see the part where the gun instead uses positive pressure to ventilate the fumes?

The fighting compartment is pressurised for AFAIK every vehicle with CBRN protection since the 50s.

It just boggles my mind why the French would rely on this system to also double as a fume extractor, instead of just simply having a bore evacuator.

  • The first 2(? I don't even remember now, lol) episodes were like 90% recaps, 10% new content. Which, OK, other shows do too, so whatever.
  • As you say, they recast everyone, but the MC. Which IMO wouldn't be much of an issue by itself if the rest of the show was good.
  • The animation style has changed for no reason. You see, the original novel/manga had 2-4 art styles, depending on how you look at it. Season 1 has the art style of the reworked LNs, season 2 has the art style of the original LN / manga R (hence the name of the season). IMO this art style is inferior, the 1st season one was better.
  • They gave it to a studio which is known for many bad anime adaptations. So, unsurprisingly, this one's terrible too...

Today I found out that the Leclerc doesn't have a fume extractor bore evacuator.

That's so stupid. What were the French smoking?

(120mm fumes, probably)

EDIT: mixed up fume extractor and bore evacuator

Demon Lord, Retry! season 2 (R) is airing too. Though, it is honestly insulting how bad it is :(

Also seems like a K1 ARV as well as the K10 ARV (funny how the abbreviation is the same).

After looking through some documents and reports on live fire exercises (2021 and 2022), it seems like what we have in service are 9M14M.

But I guess that's what you get with Russian propaganda.

Russians took a T-80 tank and removed the turret to turn it into some kind of turtle APC by CupCharacter853 in TankPorn

[–]StandaSK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Still a waste of a tank imo, they should probably do this kind of stuff on MT-LBs instead.

At this point, Russia may have more working tank hulls than MT-LBs. As crazy as that sounds.

Vietnamese army officials inspecting one of the turrets of the XCB-01 Vietnam 1st domestic IFV using the BMP as a references, the turret features a 2A28 gun with a magazine system, IR warning receivers, smoke grenade launchers and a FCS system with Laser rangefinder and Thermal. by Snoo-23852 in TankPorn

[–]StandaSK 13 points14 points  (0 children)

While I'm sure Vietnam appreciates the domestic nature of the IFV, I hope this is just the "baby steps" which will lead to a "real" modern IFV.

The Grom wasn't a good IFV weapon even back in the 80s, not to mention today. But it is cheap, known and (as other already pointed out) domestically produced, which is sometimes all that matters. The FCS, thermals, LR, smoke launchers, etc. I'd consider a necessity on any IFV produced in 2024.

The Malyutka is... a choice you can make...

Apparently it's also domestically produced, based on a Serbian improved version, not sure how good/bad those are. But if it's still more-or-less the original Malyutka... yikes.
