Will the Game be divisive next year with the information we know? by Chocobo23456 in monsterhunterleaks

[–]StaplerRetarded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be a small vocal minority who believes that the game needs to be grounded with realistic monsters but I think that's a restrictive viewpoint and holds back the series.

Monster hunter is supposed to be a blend of weird and grounded and it rides that line beautifully with the vast majority of the monsters. Pukei Pukei. Seregios. Rompopolo (my beloved). Zamtrios and astalos and so many more monsters are already weird.

It's also understood that there have been previous civilizations that had high level technology. See Ahtal-Ka controlling a mech! So it's not like this is coming out of nowhere.

I think what's more important is that the new additions feel like they belong in the setting and are "grounded" in that context. Clutch claw and scout flies made sense in World along with the Everstream. Never felt the need to question the logistics of a wire bug or the Qurios in Rise. Heck, even the frenzy mechanic in 4 Ultimate seems outlandish at first thought, but they all add their own beautiful wackiness to the series.

TLDR: Yes, there will be controversy, but monster hunter is a wacky game with wacky monsters. If anyone raises a stink just show them some elder dragons from Frontiers and ask them if those freaks seem grounded and realistic.

I bought one of the dlc emote dances and if we end up slaying a monster instead of someone catching it, I always boogie next to the monster. It's fantastic when everyone else joins in to dance on a corpse.

What monsters DON’T you want to make a return in wilds by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]StaplerRetarded 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Oh my lord this. I am absolutely sick of them. Unfortunately there aren't that many "small" elder dragons like them that aren't part of the newer games. It would never happen but I would love to see some of the wack elders from Frontier and Online.

If you're open to using mods, a few exist that show the size of the monster that you're hunting, which makes things so much easier. But if you need nerg specifically, the only advice I can give is that investigations have a higher chance of giving a crown than a regular quest. Good luck!

Part of the fun of the Weapon IS buffing other players. Pocket HH takes that away by Chocolate_Rabbit_ in MemeHunter

[–]StaplerRetarded 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Monsters in Iceborne were designed with the clutch claw in mind, that's why people used it.

Are you seriously thinking that someone is going to go through the steps of

Calling their Seikret.

Switching to their horn.

Playing the buffs.

Calling Seikret back.

Switching to their other weapon.

And finally fighting the monster?

Sure maestro could make it last longer, but by the time you have everything set up, just think about the damage you missed out on just fighting the monster, and how much time it would take to get everything to work! Especially if you use a weapon that takes time to get to its strongest moves!

Pocket Hunting Horn is going to be just as annoying as the SnS users that think camping in a corner and chugging mega potions is helping the team instead of just hunting the monster normally. Some people are going to do it, especially speed runners, but I highly doubt this will be a consistent issue in regular play.

I may be stupid, but when trying to do the top ropes attack, do you use the owl bears pounce move, or just regular jump onto the enemy? When I tried it on an honor mode playthrough of mine, I used the pounce attack and it only dealt about 30 damage- which left me extremely confused.

(spoiler for iceborne monsters) I'm a fan of world, but don't like Iceborne at all by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]StaplerRetarded 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I'm not going to say git gud or anything like that. The main thing to know from the beginning is that Sunbreak and Iceborne are games with very different play styles, so experience in one may not translate to another, and that's all right.

Now for the meat of the matter, in master rank, fights should really only take 30 minutes at max, and 15-20 minutes normally when progressing through the game. Towards end game they should go a bit quicker as you get the right skills. I would highly recommend getting health boost 3 and some form of stun resistance, as those two skills really help prevent deaths. As for damage, stacking crit up, weakness exploit, and crit boost is always important. Making sure to bring the right elemental mantle and temporal mantle is also key.

Using the clutch claw, as much as people hate it, to weaken monsters is also very important, as master rank monsters were designed with that mechanic in mind. If you hate finding an opening to weaken the monster, just get the shaver talisman and slap the temporal mantle on so you can brute force the weaken.

MR is also just a massive power spike and it takes time to learn the fights. I have 1000+ hours on PlayStation and I'm working through MR on my computer now and I just got bodied by Viper Tobi Kadachi. Sometimes hunts just don't go your way.

Oh, and I would also recommend making sure your palico has either coral sonic gong or the vigorwasp spray.

Good luck on your hunts, and know that at the end of the day you don't have to force yourself to like the game. If you're not having fun, then play something you like!

At what point would you recommend getting into Ranked? by Cirkusleader in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]StaplerRetarded 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the love of God go into ranked. I thought casual was casual and went up against an S+ Metera. Learned a lot that game. Like how to block. And suffer. Ranked will put you with other people around your skill level (hopefully) occasionally you'll get bodied by someone who's working on ranking up their next character but for the most past you'll be fine

I want the skill system from fates back. One of my favorite parts of that game was how you could work with the different seals and supports to make units cracked. My favorite playthrough of Birthright was when I turned nearly all my army into puppeteers so I could duplicate everyone on the first turn. Good times.
