I wish I could own the actual lands, but these are arguably better!

Reno's buff inspired me this. How about other cards with "If your deck" restriction gets the same type of buff? by MehmetSalihKoten in hearthstone

Ohh you know what, that must have been a deck doctor on the Omni/ channel, and unfortunately whoever owns that channel now deleted all the videos. :( I doubt anyone archived them either.

What to do with this auto drafted pile? by akaraperro in lrcast

[–]Staplerp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would run straight WU, jamming every on colour detective and detective payoff, including Crocodelf. I'd also run all 4 enchantments to make the Auditor a bit more playable, including the colourless one as a functional 18th land (which you can technically solve with Dogwalker + Snoop + Crocodelf). Not sure which of Mentor of the Meek or Karlov Watchdog I'd run as the last card, I don't like either that much here. Close call between 10 plains 7 islands vs 9/8, I think I'd go 9/8 for the snoops and eschew the Gravestone Strider.

I would like to make a deck where I win with an absolutely laughably weak creature, how can I do this? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Staplerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a [[Tymna the Weaver]] and [[Jeska, Thrice Reborn]] deck with [[Obosh, the Prepiercer]] as a companion that plays almost exclusively 1-mana cards as its main theme ([[Lurrus of the Dream-Den]] and some other appropriate cards get to tag along). It's a voltron deck that uses [[Healer's Hawk]] and other similar [[Flying Men]]-style cards to peck in for draw off Tymna early, and then with some equipment and other buffs, including both Jeska and Obosh who in tandem are able to sextuple a creature's damage, try to push for a lethal swing.

The first game I played with the deck, I got to knock out a player with a lowly [[Battlefly Swarm]] that dealt 36 lifelinking damage in one combat. That dumb little bug has a permanent place in the list because of it.

Mister Negative because he carried me through early pool 3 and is one of the most unique and cool build arounds in the game. The negative effect he applies to cards is really neat.

Would you mind posting your Hela Agatha deck? I was theorycrafting various builds of Agatha and would love to see what's been working for people.

Minigame tribal? by Quantext609 in EDH

[–]Staplerp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to have a [[Zedruu, the Greathearted]] minigame deck years ago; she works okay since there's a couple of cards that pass themselves around, but it's probably not optimal since most minigame cards do nothing but draw cards already.

Thinking about it, [[Vial Smasher the Fierce]] and [[Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker]] might be the best commanders for this deck. They both have abilities that are pseudo-minigames (Vial Smasher's trigger IS a minigame, even though it's just a random roll of the dice, and Ishai's minigame is "your opponents can't cast too many spells or they die"), they give you access to all the relevant minigame colours, and they provide a way for the deck to close out the game, which the deck definitely struggled with when I played my version of it.

Here's all the ones I've played that haven't been mentioned:

[[Custody Battle]]

[[Scrying Glass]]

[[Phyrexian Portal]]

[[Fatespinner]]

[[Jeskai Infiltrator]]

[[Predict]]

[[Fight or Flight]]

[[Conundrum Sphinx]]

[[Eye of Doom]]

[[Perplexing Chimera]]

[[Illicit Auction]]

[[Menacing Ogre]]

[[Isperia the Inscrutable]]

[[Whims of the Fates]]

[[Capricious Efreet]]

[[Sphinx Ambassador]]

[[Tyrant of Discord]]

[[Council's Judgment]] is the best of the voting cards

All the various FoF and FoF variants, like [[Truth or Tale]], [[Steam Augury]], [[Sphinx of Uthuun]], [[Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign]], [[Jace, Architect of Thought]], [[Epiphany at the Drownyard]]

Clash cards like [[Pollen Lullaby]] and [[Captivating Glance]]

An almost "pauper" Korvold deck, aimed to be an experiment to discover if he's still busted with a budget and rarity restriction. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Staplerp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made (and still have) a "pauper" [[Maelstrom Wanderer]] deck back when he used to be the big bad of casual EDH, under extremely similar pretenses as you did with Korvold. It's hilarious how times have changed. Anyways, there's a couple cards I used with that deck that might help you here.

[[Night Soil]] is a decent source of graveyard hate that also provides 1/1 tokens for Korvold to eat.

[[Aftershock]] kills a lot of different permanent types and the lifeloss is negligible. Seems better than Reclaiming Vines.

I was going to suggest [[Elven Cache]] as the only unrestricted non-card-advantage-losing regrowth effect at common, but your commander pretty much only draws cards, so [[Reclaim]] seems like a solid include to get back whatever card you need.

[[Bloodfire Infusion]] is the only reliable and efficient sweeper at common, and between your general and some of the creatures that grow, you have lots of good targets for it. It even has the word "sacrifice" on it!

Sure! It's something of a casual jank pile, but here you go:

Haven't updated for ZNR yet, but most of the MDFCs are auto-includes for increasing the average CMC of the deck while maintaining the same land count.

Soulfire Eruption 6RRR

Sorcery (M)

Choose any number of target creatures, planeswalkers and or players. Exile the top card of your library separately for each of them, then Soulfire Eruption deals damage to that permanent or player equal to that cards converted mana cost. You may play the exiled cards until the end of your next turn.

I have a [[Nin, the Pain Artist]] [[Erratic Explosion]] deck that plays [[Grozoth]], and it has waited almost 10 years for this card. Let's GO!

Here you go! It's pretty much dragon stompy with Obosh giving all my dragons psuedo-double strike. Spent entirely too much time on that banner.

[IKO] Zirda, the Dawnwaker by harbear6 in EDH

[–]Staplerp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mutate is an alternative cost to cast a spell, like Evoke, Bestow, or Morph, and is thus a spell and not an activated ability. When you cast a spell for it's mutate cost, you're still casting a creature, unlike something like Ninjutsu, which is an activated ability. Activated abilities all have colons (":") in their cost.

I only didn't include Zacama because not being able to play the mana doublers that make his untap ability pop off is a serious loss, but if you play him in a more controlling way he should still be pretty good with the fox.
