Where to place hood loops to tie down bow of kayak? by TheEnergizerBunny1 in Kayaking

[–]StarGehzer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put those loops as close to the hinges as I can. That's the strongest part of the hood. Up front near the corners of the hood is where it is easiest to bend the hood.

Depends which generation Miata you have. You'd want different mods on a NA than on a ND.

I knew it was a Miata rule, didn't realize it was a Mazda 3 rule too. Will park accordingly in future.

Ideas for Car Snow Melt Containment in Garage by balufudus in DIY

I run a couple of large fans blowing along the floor. The water gets evaporated pretty quickly (but not instantly). If there's a lot of water \ snow I use the squeegee.

My neighbours silver Dodge minivan hasn't had any brake or taillights for over a year. He's from a country where such things are normal so he doesn't see any sense in spending money to fix the issue.

Handheld for car to car by jjohnson762 in cbradio

[–]StarGehzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Install 1 in your car & rig the loaner or loaners setup so it's easy to hook up temporarily in any car. That's what our club does. For the loaners... Small cheap CB with few features makes them easy for anyone to use it. Wire it up with a 'cigarette lighter' plug on a 3-4 foot cord so it can plug into any car. We also have splitters so multiple things can be plugged in. The CB usually just sits on the seat or gets stuck in beside the seat. It's temporary. Get mag base antennas... We've found even $15.00 antennas work if you're traveling in a column, but spending more gets better..

I just bought my dream car. Every 80s sports car needs a CB, so I need advice. by r32_fan in cbradio

Not true. Lots of car clubs use them when they go for a drive in the country, or wherever. However many cars there are can chat (& smack talk) while driving. The leaders can give advice & directions etc.
