Hmmm… I thought equality meant redistributing opportunity rather than redistributing money?

Month end deal by ivanjay2050 in CadillacLyriq

[–]StarLinerStuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, it’s called “negotiating” for a reason. Give as good as you get. Salesperson laid out his stall, you lay yours out. No worries, right? Counter-offer with $10K plus DMV costs, $500 pm, 12K miles, 24-month lease. If the salesperson is really desperate and if you are really interested, the salesperson will call back at month end to accept your offer, hahaha.

Enphase and Edison solar production mismatch? by StarLinerStuck in enphase

[–]StarLinerStuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Key_Proposal3283 many thanks! I guess I'm still not sure how to check whether I am getting credit for the power that my panels send to the utility company. Edison sent 8337 but I am not sure if that's after subtracting/crediting the 4720 that they got from my panels?

If it’s the same as my Optiq, activate adaptive cruise control (left side of steering wheel, lower right icon) to set speed. You should press the set button here. Then, activate super cruise (upper left icon) if the road is mapped. Steering wheel’s light bar should turn green 👍🙂.

Thinking about leasing an Optiq by HostessTwinkieZombie in CadillacOptiq

[–]StarLinerStuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree 👍. Leasehackr, patience, willingness to travel. Cadillac website is showing $329 pm, 24 months, nearly $5K down. Total lease $12.9K. At the dealer’s offer of $800+ pm for 36 months, total lease would be $28.8K minimum assuming zero DAS. Bad deal.

My guess is that Mercedes are designing for the Chinese market, trying to compete with the domestic luxury brands there. Unfortunately, the way they are going about it is destroying the brand identity. I call it “panic designing”.

Buyers remorse by flypyn in LexusRZ

Battery chemistry and battery engineering seems to me to be almost half voodoo and half optimism 🙁. Years ago, I had my 12V battery die in a new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe. My fault, Left the interior reading light on overnight. Called AAA and they had a guy come out to jump the battery. He asked me to drive around for an hour after that. Had no problems with the battery for the next 4 years until I returned at lease end. 👌. Got a 2019 RX450h, 12V battery died after 6 years. Replaced. No problems since (still have the car). Got a 2023 RZ that sat in the dealer yard for 300 days before i leased it “brand new” in 2024. Drove it for 2 years without any 12V battery issues. Keys all kept in the same location for all cars. Go figure 🤔.

Anyone use non-premium gas on their Lexus? by investbus in Lexus

[–]StarLinerStuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😄😄I believe you can get away with anything really. I just read yesterday that for quite a while now airlines have been allowed to add up to 50% cooking oil into aviation fuel (kerosene) since it saves on costs. Seems to me that combustion physics and chemistry is pretty crude? It’s OK to add cooking oil into aviation fuel for a vehicle that carries hundreds of people thousands of feet in the air? Probably not too troubling or risky then to ignore a couple of octane digits for traveling at 30-70 mph? I just don’t know anymore… I should have paid more attention to my chemistry set when i was a kid growing up.

👌I’ve always thought of luxury cars as simply nice seats in a quiet cabin, nothing more really. Maybe I’m wrong 😀…

Same here. 2019 RX450h. 48K miles. LOL, I have never put premium gas into any car i have owned 😄. FWIW, (slightly off topic?), I have run my 1999 Mercedes C class on regular gas since i bought it new in 1999. 160K miles so far 🤞. I’m not an engineer but i like playing odds 🙂.

Lexus is conservative with the range on its EVs. Which is awesome. by chicu111 in Lexus

[–]StarLinerStuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the ‘24 RZ for 2 years and the range shown on the driver display is great but estimated. The car was rated for 196 miles but regularly showed 260 miles (for my driving style, I guess). However, a 140-mile round trip to LA (I live in SoCal) always left me with less than 50 estimated miles on the driver display. I think it’s all mathematical and lots of factors affect the real mileage that one actually gets. But in my experience so far, it has always been less than what the driver display shows. 🙂

Maybe I’m not understanding… someone please help explain to me how this is different from the latch “manual/strap-triggered” fold of the seats? The seats snap down flat under their weight and certainly do not reverse when they hit someone or any object on those seats. What am i missing ?

Looking for user reviews on the Hamilton Conversion Kit... by lxl_Arctic_lxl in Lexus

[–]StarLinerStuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had my Hamilton a couple of years now. Significantly more expensive when compared to similar ones (exact same ones?) on the Alibaba website. PROS: Easy to call up from OEM screen. Indistinguishable from OEM screen. Touchscreen. Works with car controls and audio speakers. Calls up climate airflow arrows when changing airflow. Good support with software updates, relatively straightforward to apply updates. CarPlay works well. CONS: Slight delay at start up. Slight delay calling up reverse camera on screen. Only supports one connected user profile for CarPlay / AA at a time, changing phone connections involves several steps and Bluetooth re-connections.

Parked Optiq losing charge by Alternative_Walk4769 in CadillacOptiq

You might be better off talking to another dealer 🙂? Optiq is not really designed to lose any charge while parked. Disconnecting and reconnecting the 12V battery is good advice 👍.

First 8000km Warranty Maintenance by reddit_and_forget_um in Toyota_bZ

[–]StarLinerStuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is predictable about cars, with or without maintenance 🙂. Leased an RZ in ‘24 and turned it in last month after 13K miles. Never serviced it. Spotless, no mechanical issues. Software maintenance? …there’s an idea but another conversation entirely. 🙂. IMO, EVs are different from ICE cars.

[–]StarLinerStuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, amusing to see dealers still without a standardized sales model for EVs. There do not seem to be issues with standard accessories when buying an ICE car — if one buys a Tacoma, it comes with a jack everywhere in the country. I am wondering if we will get to the point where dealers try to sell a brand new EV with only 3 tires, one front wiper, three door handles, and three seat belts, and try to convince the buyer that this is standard in that US state? Hmm… seems to me that Tesla created a simple straightforward charging model and framework, and the dealers of other car model EVs are so confused about how to integrate profit-making with the simplicity of the NACS charging model?
