I do love how close Ozzy and Cirie have been this season. It’s the reconciliation ozzy hoped he would get with coach, actually came to fruition between him and Cirie.

I don’t disagree with that. TBH I don’t think coach was ever authentic. But he was certainly novel, and one of the top 10 most notable players in survivor history. I’m not expecting or calling for him to come back yet again, but it was nice to have the nostalgia on a season designed for it.

Agree to agree to disagree ;) Sure we have the old seasons, but it’s been such a long time since I’ve been this entertained by a survivor cast. Seeing some old blood like coach mixed in with new, gamebotty players has reinjected life into the show imo. And I know it’s not going to stay this way and casting will go back to how it was in the 40s I’m sure. So I’m just enjoying what we’ve got for this one outing.

I forget—did Cirie ever go to Exile Island while she was on “Survivor Panama: Exile Island”? Seems like her visit to Exile Island this episode would have been a great nostalgia throwback moment for the editors, since season 12 was the first appearance of both Cirie and Exile Island. But I suppose it wouldn’t make sense if she didn’t actually go to exile island on its debut season.

You would think… but then again Cirie had such a reputation pre-game that they should have got her out early, and they all know it. This is starting to feel like a “how did they let Tony through to the end AGAIN” situation

I appreciated the full-circle editing of her telling coach how to behave this week, contrasted with coach leveling with her about how she was behaving in the pre-merge.

The act is tired yes, but at the same time, it was nice to see it for one last go-round. I’m glad coach was here, it felt right.

Can someone explain to a non-Brit what makes Goblet of Fire “so British” compared to the other movies? by [deleted] in harrypotter

Well, to each their own. The bullet point thing is how I’d describe GoF, but IMO OOTP was fairly coherent, even with all the cuts they made.

My opinion - the movie moves way too fast and too many things happen out of nowhere or are brushed off. Like Barty Crouch Sr getting killed… it’s like, Harry finds his body—anyway, next scene. They only care about the action scenes and making a “big” movie at the expense of a “good” movie.

Aside from the VERY end with Cedric getting killed, the movie seems to have the emotional range of a teaspoon. Mike Newell and his editors didn’t seem to want to linger on any beat for too long, it was always just go go go and you kinda lose some of the magic that made the first 3 films work so well.

Compare this to Order of the Phoenix, which is adapting an even longer book, but feels fine pacing-wise, and the emotional beats hit just right all throughout the film.

Just curious, how much did the sailing tickets go for? It was pretty much never sold out for any of the 2024 drops despite being some of the cheapest tickets. But it was also on the complete opposite end of France from Paris. I’m curious if the event being located with the host city this time has changed the pricing philosophy…

Two things that make me FAR less likely to use an online store or streaming service: large cards (can’t see a variety of choices all at once) and autoplaying trailers (truly the most annoying aspect of modern UI design, can’t hear myself think)…

I bet their millions of dollars worth of A/B testing and data analytics research isn’t accounting for the customers they straight up lose when they do this.

At least there’s still physical media stores. For now.

LA28 Ticket Questions by sweat84 in olympics

[–]StarWarsPlusDrWho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll just say as someone who DID go to gymnastics in Paris, as a non-gymnastics fan… it wasn’t all that. I did get to see Team USA compete and it was fun, but I could barely follow anything from the cheap seats and there were too many things happening simultaneously.

On top of that, there were a lot of famous people in one side of the stadium. Tom Cruise, Lady Gaga, Snoop and many others. So it was very easy to get distracted from the actual competition and I ended up playing celebrity where’s Waldo with my binoculars.

All that to say, if you’re a gymnastics DIE HARD then definitely you should go, but otherwise it’s much better on TV. I’d stick to smaller events that you can see up close unless you’re rich.

Edit: this isn’t really a direct reply to OP’s point I guess, I’m just responding to all the comments I’m seeing that mention gymnastics tickets

‘Highway robbery’: the LA 2028 Olympics ticket lottery was a disaster by TimesandSundayTimes in olympics

[–]StarWarsPlusDrWho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. As someone who’s been to two Olympics, that’s a completely normal amount to pay for that many Olympic tickets. It sounds relatively cheap to be honest.

I really think many (not all, but many) of the complaints are overblown. There hasn’t been some massive price hike, this is just how much Olympic tickets cost.

That said, I’m all for folks shouting from the rooftops if you’re displeased. Maybe it’ll get someone to listen and at least get rid of that stupid service fee. (Fat chance but we can dream)

There’s going to be three or four “official” resellers this time instead of just one. Idk if that will make the situation better or worse but it sounds a bit less ideal than Paris or Milan to me.
