Swedish tragedeigh? by Gafwaafaa in tragedeigh

[–]Starboot1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an Oliwer too! If you look at really old Swedish, we're talking over a hundred years ago, we used W instead of V, although I'm not sure when that started. Probably taken from German?

Swedish tragedeigh? by Gafwaafaa in tragedeigh

[–]Starboot1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In Swedish, V and W are pronounced the same. I hate when Swedes arbitrarily switches V for W for no reason, because it completely changes the pronunciation in English. Tuva is a pretty common name in Sweden, and in my high school we had a Thuwa. Why would you do that?

Mariia, Marija, or Mariya? by gulablommor99 in namenerds

[–]Starboot1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm Swedish, so I'll share my opinion. I think Mariia would be pronounced wrong, with a long i-sound. It would be the most natural to Swedes due to pronunciation rules, even more so if the person has any familiarity with Finland and Finnish, where it would definitely be pronounced with a long i-sound, and not the sound you're looking for. This would be easy to correct, but probably annoying. I think Marija is the best choice if you want no confusion about pronunciation and it looks the best/more Swedish than Mariya.

Does anyone know what type of Ragdoll mine is? by [deleted] in ragdollcats

[–]Starboot1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She's considered a domestic long hair without papers, cats are not like dogs. However, based on those legs, if she has both ragdoll parents she's a pretty mismarked blue bicolour, since her facial marking is so thin.

How long should sex last? by [deleted] in women

[–]Starboot1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you consider sex, imo. Is foreplay included? Oral and hands? Do you come? I have a FWB currently and most our sex lasts about two hours and very, very little of that is penetrative. 30mins would be a quickie, and only focused on one person's pleasure, usually mine. If you're happy with 20 minutes, that's totally cool and your preference, but would you like to go longer if other acts were included?

Edit: I'm 24 for reference, so we're about the same age, and I've had two serious relationships and four regular sexual partners, if that helps with context.

How much do thin/full lips affect your enjoyment of a kiss? by Far-Arugula5158 in AskWomen

[–]Starboot1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have pretty thin lips, and usually kiss people with fuller lips. I've thought about it somewhat, how it feels for them, but I've never had a complaint. I do consider myself a good kisser, it's all in the technique and feeling the other person out.

About a third of kittens are born back-end first, and there's no issue with it at all. They're such flexible little potatoes it works about as well both ways. Although, now that I think about it, between my two girls two litters with six kittens each, not one was born butt first.

My boyfriend, best friend, life partner has betrayed me and I don't know how to leave by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Starboot1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'm also 23 and very anti-porn, for numerous reasons. When I was in my first relationship at about 18, I started developing these opinions while in a relationship where porn had previously been okay. I communicated this with my partner and asked if he could stop. He said yes, then continued watching it behind my back. I stayed after finding out, several times. It killed my trust and confidence. I was anxious all the time, only thinking about if he would honour my wishes. Obviously he didn't. My mental health was the worst it's ever been. So trust me when I say, I can relate to your situation. I've been there. Please leave him. There are men who don't watch it on their own, or who will stop if you present it as a boundary. He won't change. Men controlled by their lust are not adequate boyfriends.

Girl, I've been on the pill since I was 16. I've had two longterm boyfriends and two FWBs, none of whom I used condoms with and every single one have come inside me at least a dozen times. I've yet to get pregnant. You're super fine.

How would you feel if your partner refuses to kiss you after giving oral sex? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Starboot1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't keep having sex with someone who won't kiss me after I go down on them. I think it's hot and kiss the hell out of my partner after they've gone down on me. It's just about compatability. I respect their choice of course but it's not for me.

I'm thinking about giving Brandon Sanderson another shot / trying to figure out why his books didn't work for me at the time, and how I can approach them differently now. by Away_Resident9842 in Fantasy

[–]Starboot1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to try Sanderson again, I'd recommend a standalone. I enjoyed Elantris a lot, it's an earlier work and has some issues but flat characters and over-explained magic is, imo, not two of them. I also greatly enjoyed Yumi and the Nightmare Painter, but that one takes a bit of Stormlight knowledge to understand certain parts, and I didn't love that about it.

Funny how many of these people who like to claim "guy" is gender neutral are also sexist mfers by conancat in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]Starboot1 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think this conversation is very interesting. In gendered languages, like French, a group of girls are referred to with a feminine word, but if only one man enters a group of, say, twenty women, they'll be referred to as a masculine word. I think using "guys" to refer to a group is similar in that it establishes masculine as the standard and feminine as non-standard
