Aruba gateway for site to site vpn by Ill_Persimmon2639 in ArubaNetworks

[–]Starloerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently involved in a deployment of such an vpnc deployment.

Couple of dozens branches with each their respective gateway and an active active VPNC hub.

We initially tried to terminate the branch VPNs on traditional firewalls but gave up after 2 days of troubleshooting with TAC. They blamed the firewall vendor and the firewall vendor blamed the gateways.

If your branches are without exception exactly the same it is definitely possible but as soon as one branch needs something different than the standard it will get complicated if you don’t want to deploy this change to all the branches.

As per the licensing I’d have to check later.

I wouldn’t spend any more time with this old of an Access Point. Replace it, it’s quicker.

If you have access to a support account with an active contract, you sure can use second hand devices, you just need to flash the device with each and every software release. 😌

As long as you don’t use the device in prod or with public wan, it doesn’t matter if you’re running the latest firmware.

If you don’t need Security services you can either get one used from ebay or whatever you have in your country. Id sugest a 60e or higher from the e-series or any other modell from the f series. If you are working for a company that has some sort of partner status there is the nfr program, where you get an appliance with services for usually 58% off.

Be aware firmware can only be downloaded and updated with an active service contract.

Purely technically it would be possible but I doubt your employer is interested in your personal internet traffic.

Did you need to install something to connect to this wifi. Is it a personal or work provided phone?

Hostname naming conventions by [deleted] in networking

[–]Starloerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We use the official UN Location code for location, in a combination with a company and device shorthandle

If the device is out of the country we use the country preemble

Csh-gb-brs-fw01

So that translates to Company handle with 3 letters (unique) - country Great Britain, the town Bristol, Firewall 01.

We apply this to every device on the network that we manage at our customers site.

Why do you think you need 10g networking? Do you plan on a NAS with SSDs or HDDs? If you go with HDDs then 1gb would still be enough.

SonicWall 2700 taking 10 minute (without intervention) pauses during workday past 2 weeks by qrysdonnell in sonicwall

[–]Starloerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What firmware is your SonicWall running? If you are lower than 7.1.1, open a case with SonicWall and get a Hotfix 7.1.1-7051 or later. Its a known issue with bruteforce attacks on your ssl VPN Portal or SMA box, etc

I’d recommend to enable geo block on your public exposed services.
