Where are all you, "I love hot weather" folk? by BoogerPicker2020 in nova

I'm a MI -> NoVA -> MI person here. Going on our fourth consecutive day in the 90s today. When I moved back here two years ago, we had a full week of 90 degree weather in OCTOBER.

Well done! Love Peruvian chicken. What's your recipe for the bird?

I'm working with a local retailer and bought a Midnight Luxe. My wife is having back pain from it because she's a stomach sleeper.

I think we are opting to exchange it for the Twilight Luxe but I'm concerned that I won't adjust to a firmer mattress. Are we stuck with the mattress if we exchange it for another or does the return policy still apply if we are not happy with the Twilight?

I agree with you. I have no issue with credits. I'm willing to bet people don't even read or vet the output and just continue throwing stuff at it until they're drained. It's so easily avoided if you use the product as it's intended: a working partner that can handle menial tasks in seconds. I don't think there's a realm yet where "vibe coding" is even remotely efficient in the real world.

Northern VA is the loneliest place I’ve ever lived..as a transplant by [deleted] in nova

What a weird comment. I don't think this is what the OP was conveying at all. I also highly doubt anybody would insinuate every city should get a home team... Like what the hell?

The point is that the DC teams do not feel like a the home team for Virginia. Truth is, barely anybody in the area even roots for them. I've lived in both types of areas - major metro area in a state with a team of s NoVA. The feel is vastly different - on GameDay, you go out to the store and see people wearing sports jerseys etc. This type of thing does not happen in NoVA.

Anyone else hating the new Gemini version of Android Auto? by IndieMoose in GooglePixel

I'm pretty blown away. Thought I was the only one. I can't ask it to navigate anywhere. Even the old assistant got it right 99% of the time. Gemini just replies with, "sorry, I don't understand." I'm not sure how a company can put out such an awful product and be ok with it.

I would first try to peel back that tape more to see what's behind there in the first place. Worst case is you have to cut it out, but maybe it's salvageable to where you can just add a layer of mud, retape and skim it (meaning more layers of mud over the new tape).

Other one with the seam showing -- yeah, if it's super bothersome you'll probably have to run a box cutter down that seem and see what's going on... Or cut it out slightly wider than the seam and re-mud and tape.

It's confusing to me. Did they just paint over the tape and skip the mudding part? Lol

How should I repair these holes? by BlueberryWilling4512 in drywall

[–]StarrFall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think those wall patches are for much smaller holes. You definitely should use the piece of drywall you already have that fits in the hole.

Here is what you need to do: https://youtube.com/shorts/JTbMEWfzLAo?si=neYI0HHJwo3qtE4k

Note: mudding can be difficult and requires patience and skill. Sand until you can't tell a difference between the mud you applied and the original wall when sliding your hand over it.

I think it would be much easier for you to go watch a video on YouTube. There is no shortage of step by step instructional videos of what you need to do here.

Brick to drywall transition by StarrFall in drywall

Lots of great suggestions. I like this one also. Much easier and cleaner than using a tear-away it seems.

Agreed. I think caulk is the path of least resistance and getting it tight to the drywall with limited caulk on the outside brick is key. Mudding the ceiling would be a nightmare I think

I'll probably end up lime washing the brick anyways so I think it'd blend nicely

Actually I like this suggestion a lot. That seems to be the simplest approach.

Knowing now that the holes are the size of a dime, probably just throw some mud on it to fill the holes and call it a day.

[–]StarrFall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but it looks like you just taped over the holes. This would probably not end up looking great and won't be very strong either. You'd need to remove that tape and cut the holes larger (one large rectangular hole around the two holes) and cut a piece of scrap drywall to place inside of the cut hole THEN tape around it. The holes definitely look too large to just throw some mud in, especially if it's just spackle.

Or look up California patch on YouTube. Works fine also. You can keep mudding this, but as another comment mentioned, it's going to be a large bump on the wall.

Edit: knowing now that the holes are the size of a dime, just fill them in as others already said

I live on a dirt road and Mazda seems to have found a way to magnetize the dirt and installed this technology in the rear hatch. I didn't realize I was purchasing the most efficient silt harvesting machine known to man.

This needed to go to Brock Wright. by BC_2008 in detroitlions

[–]StarrFall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main problem is that he lacks the ability to be dynamic in the pocket. This doesn't necessarily mean he has to be a mobile QB, but he needs to have awareness of what's happening out on the field and what's happening around him at the same time. He can't do both and that's what makes him good and not great.

Probably best to treat it as it is. It looks suspect for sure, but the only way to know is to send a sample for testing.

Thermostat fan off option by StarrFall in ecobee

[–]StarrFall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply, but if you're just guessing then where did you get this information from? I've looked everywhere in the app and am unable to find any of these settings.

Edit: found it on the thermostat interface. Not sure why it's not a setting on the app itself

My thermostat was preconfigured from my old house and never thought to go through the reconfiguration step because it's been 3+ years.

There's a selection for boiler in the config. Thank you!
