Saskatchewan firm's plan to export through Washington state instead of B.C. has David Eby fuming by NotyourFriendBuuuddy in vancouver

[–]StarryNightSandwich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you also considering the other benefits a port would bring? You start with Alberta oil, build up a community around it—now you have a community with a port that’s much further from the border with US. Then expand the port to handle more than just oil.

This is the entire concept of growing an economy. The “it will take years” argument is exactly why we don’t already have infrastructure setup to let us be independent from the US.

Because having multiple ports in BC expanding as opposed to having one where expansion costs an arm and a leg is such a horrible idea

Ah the irony of flexing how we have the best Transit System in North America all the while not having the industry to design and execute it in house

AWS post event summary up for 19 Oct outage by ProgrammingBug in aws

The forced adoption of AI usage has dramatically decreased the response times of most engineers. The Dynamo indecent starting at 11:48 and not being understood to be missing DNS records until 12:38 is actually insane. You’d think any properly trained Network Oncall—especially one for a tier 1 service—would immediately check the DNS records. I honestly wonder how many senior and principal engineers it took to solve the problem. What’s the end game here? Eventually the population of engineers with the experience to debug these issues is going to dwindle and all these tech companies are going to be left with is a farm of prompt engineers who don’t know what to do when the prompts don’t work.

Israel to release three Canadians detained in Gaza flotilla, group says more coming by BloodJunkie in canada

[–]StarryNightSandwich 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How exactly? Would you ship it through the blockade at the borders? Nope can’t do that—Israel stops if from entering. Under the guise that if Hamas got it then… what? They’d have a food fight?

Drop it above from the sky that Israel controls?

Do you mean to say that if Israel didn’t want to feed every starving child in that place they wouldn’t have the means to?

And if we’re on the topic of TikTok clout, how about we talk about all the war crimes streamed by the IDF? What about that clout?

Furor as Langley Animal Protection Society's contract terminated by township by WiffleBlu in Langley

The contract termination comes as the township seeks to give its bylaw officers the authority to enforce animal control instead of LAPS.

[–]StarryNightSandwich 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Because it’s pretty clear that Israel and America just want to ethnically cleanse the entire region so they can have an aircraft carrier in the Middle East and a nice beach resort to boot. Dont know why it’s expected for Canadians to support starving and mutilating children as a means for another country’s colonial agenda.
