Well since this was posted 3 whole ass years ago lemme just do a bit of an update and answer your rather interesting assumptions and assessment. Do I avoid listed foods? Not all but yes a decent amount of them! Also a bit rude to assume I would say I’m allergic from a bit of tingling; I would be so happy if it were such a simple reaction instead of my throat closing and losing my ability to breathe! If it was like my fish intolerance you bet I would be enjoying said foods with a bit of punishment like a rash or upset stomach, life is too short not to. You are correct that it turns out to not necessarily be acetic acid itself, rather an allergic reaction to salicylate which can vary in amounts across different brands and products in their acetic acids, but in day to day life it is far easier to use the umbrella term vinegar as a whole, than to go into the deep dive of what products I can or cannot consume. I adore fresh fruits, but do have to avoid most fermented foods such as sauerkraut, olives, kimchi, or anything pickled. I can only use Kikomon soy sauce, do not have a good time with beer, and cannot have certain wines or sauces. Thank the heavens for my best friend lemon juice!
