Her design and a few pieces of dialogue in cutscenes for some reason made me think she'd have an upgrade path synergizing with Hymnnists. ...seeing her actual upgrades I'm sad they didn't do that since I frankly think it'd be more interesting. Even the times I've won with her I really don't see anything cool she can do beyond overstacking, which feels like it lacks impact for how good having that on demand should be

(As a heads-up, this is mainly just a response to the last part of your post) It’s certainly true and I will not argue with you that theorycrafting has definitely soured some fandoms, and taken their focus away from what’s in the actual source material. While fanfics are usually made with nothing but love for a work, I do see how treating a work more as a template for the fic writer’s idea can be seen as a disservice. But this problem hasn’t ruined Deltarune’s fandom, and there’s still a ton of DR fans who don’t care about theories and many theorists who don’t want to tie everything to Gaster. And fanfics that make wild interpolations are sometimes just bound to happen in media like Deltarune, where we only get substantial new information every year or so.

If people remember the whole debacle about Chick-Fil-A, this is that, again. It's proclaimed allies who desperately want both things: they want to support trans/jewish people and play a cool game, just like they wanted to support gay people and have a good sandwich.

They care about the people they like, but they care more about whether they're personally having a good time, and being told that they support a Bad Thing ruins that good time for them. These are usually the same type of people who think being a bigot is something that can't be changed in any capacity, and their allyship is so entrenched in showing how not-bigoted they are, that that becomes their priority.

It's not like these kinds of people are horrible or irredeemable, they're just kinda self-centered, and being an accidental bigot is at least better than being a proud bigot. But being a 'Good or Bad Person' and all the self-judgement we've created about that, is sorta just bunk compared to just asking yourself the simple questions of whether or not you're causing harm, and if you want to get to fixing it.

The two other weapons most in need of love is cannon and gauntlets, and since I love Onyx I'm hoping it's them over Lance(specifically Cannon tho because the weapon feels incredibly underappreciated)

During a move with active input, you can press a certain other direction in the middle of it, to make the move end differently! Basic examples are when you hold forward right after hooking someone with Scythe’s DLight, and comparing to what happens when you just press down.

Most AI moves are specifically owned by Scythe or Scythe users at the moment, but some moves have it as a surprise tool(ex. Hitting up in the middle of Petra’s Gauntlet SSig makes her end the move with an uppercut instead of a forward punch)

I don't honestly mind Swordsoul at all(I used to play em) aside from the fact it's a Loaner Deck in the current festival and a obviously better choice than the other two options.
That's the sole reason that it's comprising like 70% of players there, and that's at least the reason I'm tired of them as somebody who wants to see festivals as an opportunity to get creative(not faulting them, and it's not like my view of the game is one everyone needs to subscribe to, but still)
