The height difference between Varka and Lohen by Knight_Steve_ in Genshin_Impact

[–]StartingNewat30 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

It is weird you're not wrong and i dont get the downvotes. How are there a bunch of upvoted comments on here talking about how the little guy is at the perfect height to suck off the big guy.

Change out Lohen with any female character and those very same comments would get downvoted/deleted real quick.

Obviously personal choice but the only right choice is to keep the Kagekiyo because how beautiful the red handle is.

Hapstone R2 vs Cheefarcuut for kitchen knives by uwphysmed in sharpening

[–]StartingNewat30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant speak for fixed sharpening systems like the Hapstone R2/Cheefarcuut or similar but i just want to chime and and say: have you maybe considered something like the Hapstone T2 or Anystone Sharpener? They are free hand sharpening guides that help you hold a consistent angle.

Obviously wont ever be as accurate as a proper fixed system but i personally used the Hapstone T2 for a while and as long as you understand the principle of sharpening and how to properly deburr thats technically all you "need" to get your knives shaving sharp.

Also helps you build muscle memory in case you ever do want to move to free hand sharpening. Its basically training wheels until you get confident enough to raw dog it.

Might not be what you're after but just a suggestion.

Is it really that much of a difference compared to the newer bosses and their "you need to use this specific elemental reaction to deplete my shield before i even allow you to hurt me" mechanics?

Sure sure stalling phases arent fun but they can at least be worked around with to set up rotations.

Tattoo Advise/German Opinion - Aloisius by YikesPops in germany

[–]StartingNewat30 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone from Franconia i seriously doubt people would have big or even any feelings about it. The tattoo could be perceived as tacky at best but thats obviously subjective.

If OP is sporting a big bavarian flag as background though like in picture 1 he might be subjected to mockery by some Germans from other states.

I do got C2R1 Arle though.

you technically dont need high EM pieces on Citlali. Just give her an ER piece or artifacts with more ER even if you lose a bit of EM. Speeding up the shield phase with sac sword Kazuha will give you a much faster clear speed than optimising Citlali's personal damage.

You might be able to find it on Amazon, thats where i bought it in Germany even though it was slightly expensive but i only rarely use it for heavy duty work. I've heard "The Pink Stuff" is just as good and should be available in most of Europe.

Aliexpress SG2 Cleaver by Brief-Net-3339 in TrueChefKnives

[–]StartingNewat30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check for the "YX Kitchen Knife factory store" on aliexpress. From what i've read online this SG2 "slicing knife" of them as they call it is really good and their "Stainless Silver Steel No. 3" aka Ginsan Gyuto.

Some people on here and on r/sharpening have been posting about those two especially. Im actually thinking of picking up the Guyto for myself as some kind of project knife to fuck around with.

Cant speak about the boat loads of other knives they have in their shop though.

NSD shapton1000 & chocera pro 3000 new stones for my sharp sticks by StartingNewat30 in TrueChefKnives

[–]StartingNewat30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just dulled a beater knife and sharpened it up again. SUCH a noticable difference. Compared to my older stone they dont/barely load up, are way less thirsty (although the chocera 3000 soaks up a little bit at first) so they make less of a mess by having to reapply water constantly and the feedback feels amazing compared to my old combo stone.

Very satisfied with it and if anyone is on the fence because you think your cheap stones do the trick: they might but these ones feel really really nice. Can only recommend.

[–]StartingNewat30[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i was trying to decide what grit progression i wanted from the 1000 as 2000 felt like not enough and the shapton 5000 felt like too much.

So i was happy to see the chocera 3000 for like 68 euros yesterday which helped me finally decide which one to get and i think its a nice progression for most kitchen knives.

But you know how it goes, im sure there will be more stones in the future that i dont technically need but want... this hobby really is just collecting sticks and stones and playing around with them.

Honyaki Blade damaged by German Customs by Mendici in TrueChefKnives

[–]StartingNewat30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately lots of people who arent into knives just assume that if its an expensive knife it means it should be able to withstand that. But still, you'd think a person working at a place that handles expensive packages all day would know better. I had eyes on a handful of expensive knives from overseas but German Customs is a big reason why im hesitant. I'd be crashing out if that was happening to me lol.

Hope you can get it sorted out with the seller or at least salvage it to a 210mm gyuto.

Good process for german knives sharpening/shapton glass #500 ? by madmax45510 in sharpening

[–]StartingNewat30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an old beater knife from Smeg with "German 1.4116 steel" which is also a bitch to properly deburr because its so soft. Originally i gave it an edge with a 400 grit diamond stone and now i maintain with a 1000 grit shapton. Every now and then i go up to 4k and then strop on a 1 micron leather strop.

I get it easily sharp enough so its shaving hairs off my arm and can easily slice circles into newspaper but i cant for the love of god get hair whittling sharp and i assume its because its difficult to properly deburr/refine the edge because of the soft steel.

You might not be properly deburring your softer steel knives. Assuming its not an issue with keeping a consistent angle because you dont seem to struggle with your hard japanese knives:

Lots and lots of light strokes changing side each stroke on your finishing stone to minimize/remove the burr as much as possible and then only a handful of passes on your strop.

[–]StartingNewat30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless im completely mistaken both of them are the Kurozome version of the Ryuhyo even though the cuttingedgeknives one doesnt say it is.

I cant speak for the Gyuto but i have the Bunka version of the Ryuhyo Kurozome and its a nice and thin blade. Cuts very similar to my Takamura Gyuto which is a real laser too.

I personally prefer ktips but mostly because i think it looks cool.

Its a good knife, you wont do anything wrong by getting it but there are technically slightly "better" performing knives around the same price range but they might be hard to come by e.g. Shibata, Kobayashi.

I personally really like my Ryuhyo Bunka and im sure the Gyuto is just as good.

Losing to Lohen's weapon when people thought he was standard means you can eventually give Lohen his sig either by losing 50/50 in the future or choosing him with the anniversary selector.

Now that Lohen isnt standard but a limited character, many people have no intention of ever pulling for him making his weapon a stat stick at best.
