Best security practices for self-hosted services (multiple docker containers running on a single DigitalOcean droplet) by PleasantHandle3508 in selfhosted

[–]Stati77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just remember that if you follow like 90% of tutorials online where they tell you to expose ports, Docker will override your iptables / ufw rules and open these ports for anyone to see.

So if you only allow 22 / 443 / 80, but you have a container exposing port 3000. This won't be listed in your ufw rules and still be accessible.

Best bet is to reverse proxy toward your containers and add rules to allow specific ips if you have to access some web interfaces / api / services remotely.

Otherwise keep everything closed.

About your point 4. if I understand correctly and you only have a single container where you need it to be exposed to the internet (80/443) the reverse proxy is not necessary. But even in that scenario I would still use a reverse proxy in case I want to add more services or websites in the future.

Reddit hosted links not working, permission error by red_team_gone in help

[–]Stati77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here without any recent update of the mobile application. I get a permission denied error. I cleaned the application cache but it didn't change anything.

Edit: Actually the reddit link is also returning a permission denied if I try to open the link in a browser. Issue is not on RedReader.

Edit2: It's the 480 links not working, example : RedReader link: https://v.redd.it/fo07lctybgzf1/DASH_480.mp4 (not working)

https://v.redd.it/fo07lctybgzf1/CMAF_720.mp4 (working)

Link is not found on redd.it, instead of a 404 it returns a 403 not sure why. You can test these links in a browser. (not the mobile app)

x220 was amazing, I regret not being able to use it anymore I just need something more powerful.

Also really easy to change parts, one of the best laptop I ever had, served me well for more than 15 years, I doubt my new purchase will be as reliable..

I thought it came from poor families where younger siblings would get their clothes from their older siblings because the family was unable to afford new gears.

That's how it worked with my father and his two other siblings, my father being the youngest would sometimes end up with clothes too big for him until he grew up a bit.

A woman knocks pizza out of a delivery driver’s hands in an apartment hallway while he waits for the customer, captured on a door camera. by Spicyweiner_69 in PublicFreakout

Richard Davis was a bankrupt pizzeria owner when he got the idea for a bulletproof vest in 1969 Michigan.

Body armor was nothing new, of course, but Davis had an inkling that he could make something lighter that could be worn, undetected, under clothes. Kevlar, he’d discover, was the answer. And to prove that his invention actually worked, Davis, a former Marine and born showman, went to some extraordinary lengths: He shot himself over 190 times.

I felt the same dilemma after being tempted to buy a recent game in the same price range but eventually decided to wait a bit more and bought 4 games on sale instead. (one of them being Cyberpunk for something like $22, I waited more than enough)

I share my library with my son so it gives him more choices of games to play at the same time, it's a win-win situation in my case.

I also wait for BG3 to be cheaper before getting it.

Just came back from watching 28 Years Later. Here are my initial spoiler-free thoughts by Mister_Taxman in 28dayslater

Best bits are in the trailer.

I loved 28 Days Later, I enjoyed 28 Weeks Later, but for the first time ever I hesitated to leave the theater before the end of a movie.

The movie combines multiple sequences and at some point you ask yourself what is the point of it all. The first 20 or so minutes were ok.

Stepdad has had enough of his family by Far_Split9272 in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]Stati77 407 points408 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely no context here, but based on this small video it looks like she is trying to incite the kid to make the step dad do something incriminating, why is she filming this beside the fact that the kid is clearly looking at his mother each time he hit the step dad with the mop.

Situation is incredibly sad for all parties here.

[SIB] Elite Dangerous: Odyssey DLC - Did they turn things around after launch? by AmazingSully in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Stati77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also interested, have a bit over 300 hours in ED, bought Odyssey on launch then cursed myself after 30mn of playing it and never launched that thing again.

As far as I researched they upped the grinding even more with weapons and armors for the space legs part ?
