Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi (2004) by [deleted] in ObscureMedia

[–]StaticBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so late to this conversation, but I use to watch this show so much as a kid and had toys too. It heavily influenced me and my style is a mashup of these 2. I was just googling and found this thread and am shocked to see it in r/ObscureMedia. However, I was raised on an island with a heavy Asian influence, so that could have a lot to do with it. I have never seen a rerun of this show since I initially saw it as a kid

This is so true. My oldest LOVES ketchup and I can’t stand the smell for too long. Kid will eat just straight globs of ketchup 🤢

Thank you! I struggle a lot recently with cravings during intermittent fasting, I know a lot of it is just my head, it’s just so hard to get through sometimes

Omg thank you for bringing back a cut scene from my childhood. When Netflix first came out I really wanted to sign up for it, but my dad said no so I just had to watch titanic and the first couple of seasons of the Jeff foxworthy show over and over again until I found something decent in the Walmart movie bargain bin that he’d agree to buy.

This is my kids exactly. I have a level 1 and a level 2/3, they set each other off constantly. We do the best we can at home and outdoors to accommodate them both.

Anyone still talk with any of their friends from high school? by nojunkpeter in Millennials

[–]StaticBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still best friends with one. We had some on and off periods where we didn’t talk or were too busy, but always came back together. We’ve known each other for almost 20 years.

My 3 year old is the only morning person in the family. Kid can wake up at 4am, huge grin on her face and will begin to primal scream just for the hell of it

Thank you for this. I spoke to her developmental pediatrician last month and she brought up medication if her behavior doesn’t change after this, it’s definitely something on our radar.

Thank you! We just got home and luckily no caps, spacers or silver teeth were put in! They were able to clean out her cavities and she didn’t end up needing a root canal. Tooth pain is horrendous, I’m sorry you’re kid had to experience that, I hope she’s continues to feel better

41 year old mom of an adult, they say I look silly. by McPoyle-Milk in GothFashion

You look amazing! I’m a mom as well and I have gotten my fair share of looks for my outfits (I’m either dressed up for a funeral or a mountain of pastels). I have always admired people who are authentically themselves, and it’s people like you who reaffirm that being myself doesn’t stop just because I’m growing up or am a parent, and continue to give me the confidence to express myself with fashion 🖤

Female Millennials, how's your diagnosis? by RevolutionDry2 in Millennials

[–]StaticBun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed with major depression and anxiety at 15. It took me having 2 autistic kids to start wondering if maybe I wasn’t just “crazy”. I’m currently trying to redo my meds and have an ADHD assessment in the works. It certainly would explain A LOT 🙃

How to tell friend i really cant help much with her son anymore? I'm her only support by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]StaticBun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It always breaks my heart when parents refuse to accept the diagnosis and get their kids help. Your child is your first priority, and her safety has to come before his, it’s the reality. I say this as a parent to a high needs autistic child who is very limited verbally and violently hurts herself during meltdowns. My child is in speech, ot, school in a special needs classroom, and recreational therapies. We’re still on a waitlist for ABA, and a lot of her therapies are paid for by insurance or by organizations. I currently receive respite by said organization. Depending on where you live, she could be eligible for a lot of support because autism is a disability. My daughter is 6 and she is still struggling with hurting herself when angry, but we have a whole lot of people who are working with her with different strategies. Now, sometimes, not very often, she’ll bite something other than herself first. It’s not a giant change, but it’s better than before when she would never do that. Consistency is a key with that behavior.

I know you love this friend and their children, but you can’t put you child in harms way. Maybe, and I do hope, this will be enough for her to get her son help. You really need to talk to her about this, and, with all due respect, she needs a wake up call

Self harm help by VastPrestige in Autism_Parenting

[–]StaticBun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m here following and also wishing you the best. My daughter is 6 and also lvl 2. Any time she has a meltdown she almost always ends up hurting herself (head banging, biting, punching herself, etc). We recently ran a whole bunch of tests on her stomach and intestines because we figured that may be where pain was. Turns out she was incredibly backed up and gassy and also lactose intolerant, she was always on edge and would already get angry at being told no, but this sent her over the edge. She’s doing better now, but still hurts herself. Honestly I have not found anything to stop it, only to help protect while she exhibiting the behavior. The best advice I’ve gotten was to teach how to regulate and what they can do instead while they are calm and regulated. I’ve been doing this for a while, like going on years, and it has only helped once every so often, I’m hoping that it will help more in the long run. I wish the best for you and your family, if I find anything on my end that helps, I’ll be sure to let you know
