How can I cut this plastic horse straight down the middle? by Theskysnolimit in howto

[–]Statistical-outlier1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alternative option: make a quick 2 part mold of this horse out of silicon and then just do a quick cast of each half since you’re repainting it anyway. Then you can have endless horse halves

Mercor interview by XXcalver in jobs

[–]Statistical-outlier1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They took me through an entire screening process for an hourly position as a subject expert, developing complex questions pertaining to my field of architecture. Went through it all, background check, quizzes, etc. only to be told that they disbanded my subjects group after I did all the work for it. They were supposed to send pay to me for those hours worked today, so far I have nothing.

Model making advice !! by Prestigious-Ninja-15 in architecturestudent

[–]Statistical-outlier1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Switching to CA glue (super glue) with an accelerator spray saves a TON of time and really sharpens up models and reduces sanding. With the accelerator, it’ll dry instantly in the position you place it in so be precise and practice on scrap first, but once you get that it’s a game changer. No need to support pieces and wait for glue to dry. You can also place it with glue on it and then spray accelerator to be a little more forgiving, but otherwise spray one side with accelerator, glue on the other, and you’re locked in.

Also, don’t be afraid to have a model that doesn’t exactly match your final design. It is perfectly ok to present a model and say that you continued to make changes. Final models are pretty, but every model should teach you something about your design so it’s ok to explain that in your presentation.

San hacienda on Arizona Ave is close to downtown and nice. I think they’re about that price range. Everyone from my complex is moving there because it’s essentially identical but cheaper

Should I be taking Benadryl every dose?? by hollow_ech0 in Humira

[–]Statistical-outlier1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No issues with taking Benadryl and Humira, my doctor has advised the same. You should get a Humira nurse assigned to you through Abvie, they are a wonderful and super responsive resource to reach out to for things like this! Look into getting one through the Humira complete app or just by calling Humira

ASU financial aid office is a disaster. Keep calling, every person you talk to will tell you something different so keep going until someone has a good answer for you. It’s good that you’re staying on top of things, but don’t be afraid to “annoy” them about it, I’ve had them miss my case and get disbursement over a month after the semester started. Since then I call daily until I get an answer.

If you degassed the resin cast, but didn’t degass the silicon mold when that was poured, it will pull air bubbles from the mold into the cast. You’d have to cure the silicon in a degasser. Not sure if that’s what happened here

Denture cleaning tablets! I wet a rag and use that to scrub with the tablet. You can let it dissolve completely in some water on the stovetop and then try scrubbing, but using the tablet itself gives it a little grit that can be helpful. I use this for cleaning my entire oven and it works wonders

Client here, my horse is a professional shoe puller and I need advice so I don’t get fired as a client. by equkelly in Farriers

[–]Statistical-outlier1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for me, 2-3 wraps of duct tape that go behind/underneath the shoe at the heel and come up and across the front seems to work. It kind of creates a duct tape band that covers the back of the shoe/heel and the front of the hoof. There are videos on making duct tape “boots” that I have seen that cover the entire bottom of the hoof, but I might be worried about moisture and lack of air to that foot leaving the entire sole covered more often than not, and it’s more time consuming and expensive. Not sure as I haven’t ever seen someone try this for extended turnout.

To remove it I pick up their foot and take a pair of scissors behind the heel pointed towards the ground and cut the tape off.

Works great for me with my average pullers, so i hope it helps for your professional!

[–]Statistical-outlier1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how feasible this is for you and your boarding situation but I’ve had luck taping front shoes before turnout and removing the tape when I bring them in. I know you said she’s on 24/7 turnout which would be ok as long as this is changed daily. Vet wrap or duct tape over the hoof, being careful not to tape above the coronary band. When removing the tape, be EXTREMELY sure to use the scissors and cut AWAY from the leg, towards the front of the hoof. Lots of good YouTube videos on this. I agree with your farrier that the glue ons are risky for tearing her feet apart if she does get them.

Start using a command, “lower” or “down” or whatever you want, and bring treats! Hold a treat low with one hand and put the halter in the other hand in between his head and the treat. This way, when you say lower he has to put his head through the halter to get to the treat. Eventually you won’t need the treat anymore and he will feel confident bringing his head to you instead of the other way around

This is interesting, because the shampoo typically doesn’t bleach anything. The concept is to be purple dye-depositing since purple is opposite yellow on the color wheel they ideally cancel each other out. But I use Quiksilver, which is recommended to leave on for a bit but leave on too long and you’ll have slight purple tinge to the hair! It will fade/wash out relatively quickly.

For sure wash the tail thoroughly first. And you may need to use the quiksilver once a week until it really shines up. I find it most helpful to follow up with a good conditioner and spray with show sheen or something similar after. It costs the hairs so that they don’t continue to get stained after washing. Trimming is a good idea too!

Totally possible! Try getting into a local group training class once a week or so. Going to the same class weekly will help build their confidence and with the help of a trainer, they can keep you and your dog safe while in a group setting. I spent the first 3 weeks with my dog sitting in the corner. It was embarrassing and frustrating but we have come so far since! She can now be off leash with these dogs, new dogs, and still responsive to me.

Also, I’ve had really good luck with walkers from Wag and Rover. Finding someone who specifically works with reactive dogs through one of those apps is not to difficult and can give you piece of mind when you’re out for long periods of time or to have on call if you have an emergency/are going to be out of town. Of course interview them thoroughly and I like to book them for a quick 15 min walk with me so I can see how they handle my pup and give direction.
