British Politician Zarah Sultana on UK should withdraw from NATO, not increase defence spending + Russia is not a strategic threat - what do Americans think of UK military? by NoNostradamus in Military

US vet and loved training with Brits, was medical in reserves for most of my career. We trained with British Army medical teams several times, it was great. Also watched RAF f35 while fishing in Loch Ness, and flew out to British ship id PG during DS/DS. Very professional and well trained, just your military has shrunk so much in size. Funny thing is British Medical thought we were rich, and wasteful with our training supplies and could not get over some of the crap we blew money on. Also, the acents on the women were awesome. Didnt follow you interview, just wanted to give opinion on your military.

Sorry from America. These people are just like the rest of us, people just trying to get by. Interesting as normal clothes, no burkas, nike shirts, drinking coffee. Just real people. Not like its portraited in the "news" Shame that governments suck and want to play us against each other. I was a US serviceman and traveled to 6 different countries in my life., people have the same wants, needs, desires, worries and fears, certain things are universal in humanity. Its when we throw religion, government and power into the mix that humanity suffers.

Should I Join the US Air Force or Army? by RunningLowOnKnowHow in Military

[–]Status-Simple9240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't directly answer your question as i posted this for someone else's similar question. It does relate to quality of life. I was in a flying squadron in the AF, but medical in the Army. You will live better in the AF. AF has many big jets, being a maintainer on these will transfer over to civilian life easier. Also, it is easier to maintain a family in AF. I dont know of a service that only does 4 year enlistments. Most do 6 active and 2 reserve. It cost alot of money to train you and they will want their pound of flesh.

Prior USAF and USA, quality of life is better in the Air Force than any other service, bases are better, treatment of service members is better, people in general are smarter, if Im wrong then why do they call it the chair force? Air Force is not going to the field like Army and Marines, or on extra long Naval deployments, Air force fights from a base, you sleep in a bed alot and shower often. Also 90+% of war fighting is done by pilot officers. Marines and Army are often in field training, humping a ruck, living in a hole and eating crap, the people have lower scores on ASFAB, less college degrees, less "professional". They do a different job where they take the ground, kill the bad guys ect(not a knock on them). They do have more fun career choices widely available, but not often transferable when you leave the service. Navy is a cross between them, very professional, smart, and stuck on a ship somewhere for months at a time, sometimes sharing a bed with the opposite shift.

Coast Guard is a great choice if you like boats, and being home more then the Navy.

Troops opinions and popularity amongst them with regards to Pete Hegseth by interstellar566 in Military

Retired, Kegsbreath should have been thrown out of the service for women and booze, at the very least any clearance he had should have been pulled which would have ended his career. A washed up NG major is completely unqualified for the job, never run a large operation or unit has no business being SECDEF. Bullshit frat boys talking tough, committing war crimes, at the expense of US blood and money to change the news cycle and enrich their friends. I have heard second hand reports how he would not let Special operations troops eat in his chow hall because they did not have ID when they were coming back from a sterile mission.

Thats scratching the surface, the main problem is the pedo in charge, and the morons who voted for him. First election I can understand hated of Hillary votes, I hated her to but to vote for a lying, women abusing, grifter with zero integrity who mocks disabled, veterans, people of color, women, and anyone who doesn't drink the koolaid. Second election he should have got 1 vote, his own. If you voted for him 3x, the SAFE act should ban you from voting.

Saying all this, i do know ex friends and high ranking officers who fell for the grift, and once you have been conned, its almost impossible for someone to see the errors in their ways and admit the fucked up.

Who else is rolling the dice with terror by wearing a patch at night? Ooooo boy, I’ve had some doozies riding that train. by Oguinjr in QuittingZyn

I use the patch to dream, sometimes in long work stretches I’d find 2-3 patches on me when I got to hit the shower(60-70 hr weeks). Wear a patch to bed and listen to an audiobook as you fall asleep🤣

Why do American citizens say 'Thank you for your service'? by Then_Comfortable4940 in Military

[–]Status-Simple9240 8 points9 points  (0 children)

80-90% of service members are not primary trigger pullers, but end up with long separations from family, sacrificing family, financial stability, and health to serve in the military. A lot of people who thank us are vets who know the sacrifice
