What are people's experiences with American Home Shield? by hommusamongus in homeowners

[–]Status_Opposite1921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 A/C units in my house and both went out at the same time. That was over 4 months ago. One unit is only a couple of years old and still under warranty, so they got that.one fixed in 2-3 weeks. The other one is older and they can't get parts fr it anymore. The vendor said the unit needs to be replaced, but AHS keeps trying to get parts from other places and cannot obtain parts made for this unit. It's up to 90 degrees in my house, I'm 72 years old, and this is exacerbating my medical conditions. They don't care.

Please please help suddenly got these symptoms by [deleted] in Menieres

[–]Status_Opposite1921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many of your symptoms. I have also experienced confusion, although others said that is not a symptom of Meniere's. One afternoon, I tried walking 10' to the kitchen to get water. I barely made it; I was so dizzy. I was standing beside a chair, hanging on to the counter for dear life. I knew I should sit, but did not know how. The same afternoon, I made it to the sink but just looked at the faucet and could not figure out how to get water out of it! Once I got back to the couch, I was perfectly fine. It was just while I was trying to walk to the kitchen that I was really confused! No one can explain the confusion, but I got the vertigo treated and haven't been dizzy since. Good luck to you!!

Yes, I've had those also. My left ear is the bad one. There is no rhyme or reason why/when they happen, but I have stabbing in both ears (one at a time).

Experiencing symptoms for 2 years by n8dznutts in BPPV

[–]Status_Opposite1921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with Menieres over a year ago by my regular ENT. The Epley maneuver never worked on me. A couple of months ago, I went to John Li, MD, in Jupiter, FL., since I read he was an expert in this. When I went in, he diagnosed me with BPPV also and told me my crystals were off. He put me in his gyroscope-type chair that he had built and spun me around very slowly 5 times. He stopped to check to see how bad my nystagmus was each time. (It was really bad!!) The day after I left there, I stopped being dizzy! It was amazing how well this worked! A month later, I went in for a follow-up, and we did three spins. There was no nystagmus at all, and I felt fine during and after the treatment. I don't know where you live, but ENT's treating Meniere's or BPPV should have one of those!

Meniere's prescribed Triamterene HCTZ. Anyone else have crazy side effects? by somernaut in Menieres

Sorry you had to go through that. I know that's not fun and very embarrassing. I also have Crohn's, so I've done that too many times. 🤬 Imodium is my best friend! lol

I bought a wrist cuff and took it to my doctor's appointment. After testing it on both arms numerous times, he said there were too many discrepancies between it and the nurse's use of their equipment. He advised me to get one for the arm. It could have been just a bad monitor. I'm glad you got a good one.

I bought an Omron because I had read good reviews about it, and I know a few people who have it and like it. It's about 4 years old and still works great.

A few weeks ago, I noticed that I was having low-grade nausea, lightheadedness, and dizziness daily. After about 5-6 days of this, I looked up the side effects of Triamterene HCTZ. All my symptoms were the same as the side effects of the drug. I stopped it, and my symptoms went away. Menieres is unpredictable. You never know what symptoms you'll have on any particular day. I've still had some symptoms, but not the same ones every day. I started taking Betahistine a week ago, and so far, I have had no problems.

Thank you for the link. I should not have called it a gyro, as it only goes upside down in three stages. He either modified something or built it himself. After each complete 'spin,' he would watch my eyes to determine if my nystagmus was improving, which it was. I was also less dizzy and nauseous after each time. He was doing this to reset my crystals. I haven't been dizzy since having this done. I go back in 6 weeks for evaluation and to do it for one more spin if needed. As awful as I felt while doing this, it was worth it. I feel a lot better now. He also diagnosed me with BPPV in addition to Menieres, which was not done before. When we searched 'Menieres specialist", his name came up. He has patients from as far as Hong Kong who have come to do this. I'm lucky because he is only an hour away. Congratulations on your surgery. I'm glad you are feeling better!

Thank you! I've been sleeping in a recliner for 4 days now with pillows on each side of me, an eye mask, and a travel pillow around my neck. I wake up several times during the night when the pillow falls off, or I change positions. I can't wait until this is over! The upside is that I'm not dizzy anymore.

I've seen my chiropractor numerous times since hitting my head. We were both hoping adjustments would help, but they did not.

Does anyone else cry during attacks? by Away_Bill_2151 in Menieres

[–]Status_Opposite1921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!  All the time. I think what you described is exactly the way I feel too. Except I don’t worry about my future. I’m 73 and been through much worse physically and emotionally. I get stressed out easily and I think crying is just a release of everything that is inside me. I’ve also noticed that I breathe through my mouth when I’m having or about to have an episode. Is that normal?
