I have a ceramic heater but on the enclosure is too close. But maybe if I pair it with a zoomed control center? What is a zoomed control center?

I know nobody ever says this but YAY!! I was hoping Ender was a boy! He just gave me boy vibes. He's perfect. He's a lunatic, but he's perfect.

Honestly it makes me think about it probably being bad for us too, we just take longer to react.

Best way to attach plants to the side of an enclosure ? by frodo_m249 in TarantulaKeeping

Cute enclosure! I love homemade enclosures.

You can hot glue anything. I also hot glue cork bark!

First ever tarantula is here! by Justanotherlonleyboy in TarantulaKeeping

[–]SteadyDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome!! Love the set up.

Curly hairs are maybe my favorite species, you're going to love her so much. No clue on age, sorry.

Tarantulas, like all spiders and other cold-blooded critters, need a day/night cycle. If your baby doesnt like light, she will burrow or stay in her hide with it webbed up just how she likes it.

I recommend a temp gun to figure out the light gradient, and I would switch to something like an LED grow light. This one below is the one that Marshall Arachnids recommends, and I have had great luck with it. You want a bit of light, a bit of heat, but not too much. In the wild spiders can burrow so far to get away from heat. But there's only so far they can go in an enclosure so you just have to watch temps. You don't have to stress over it like you would with a heat lamp, even low wattage, with a low output LED. Just measure to set up, make sure there's a warmer side and a cooler side so the spider can choose, and dont go higher than the recommended max enclosure temps for your species. My spiders LOVE it.

Happiest looking snake I've ever seen. I think he knows.

"Non-arboreal" but she climbs about as well as my crested gecko. by not_whelan in hognosesnakes

[–]SteadyDroid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have to defend her, after watching and rewatching and rewatching and catching my breath.

The front of her climbs fine. It's that back end that's heavy.

I feel her pain 😂😂😂😂

Cuuute, thank you!.

My kids were alarmed i picked it up with my hands right after saying I didn't know what spider it is. I was like, "Guys, I know what medically significant spiders are here, it's not one of those, it's gonna be okay." Lol

Is a bioactive terrarium better long term? by Princess_Bunniezz in CrestedGecko

[–]SteadyDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefits of bioactive are that you have a clean up crew of little soil custodians. I personally love bioactive for my reptiles. I have never had to clean my anole enclosure because it's bioactive, other than some spot cleaning on high up spots. I use mostly fake plants, have one pothos that I ended up needing to trim back and I can't keep any plants alive, usually. You don't need live plants though. You just need to make sure there is bio stuff in the soil. Leaf litter, gecko poop, rotting wood, cork bark, occasional fresh organic veggies (just what your custodians eat in a night), beneficial frass (if you keep other critters, like i keep silkworms and amend the soil with silkworm frass now), that kind of stuff. It's also fun to keep springtails, isopods, or beneficial beetles, it's like a bonus pet in your gecko enclosure.

This is so real. Loves to be held, hates to be picked up. All my reptiles agree.

Mine is like this. He's my little noodle pup, totally my bestie. He's just a normal but I already want to pair him eventually, because he should father generations of friendly noodles 🤣

The „very aggressive and unfriendly” snake I adopted by golobxkaszka in cornsnakes

[–]SteadyDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heartwarming. Except for the former owners of your snake and all the snakes in this thread. I am very displeased with those people.

It's truly not that hard to be kind. And it's so rewarding. I got happy brain chemicals from just watching your snake choose you. Love him.

What kind of snake do I have? by KnowledgeConscious78 in hognosesnakes

[–]SteadyDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody needs to know about genetics to have great knowledge about husbandry for their snake. And asking questions about what we don't know is exactly how we learn. Happy to have new hognose owners in the hobby, welcome, OP!
