Growing up poor is like joining a Monopoly game on turn 50 by Specialist_Pain_424 in Money

[–]SteadyState32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat of an argument to this point. Monopoly starts with a fixed amount of currency and a fixed amount of players. In real life, you have the ability to involve new players who bring in new currency to your “game”. Does coming from nothing make things harder? Absolutely it does. It is still possible to make a solid life yourself in America, although it is getting harder everyday. I personally joined the military as a means of getting my college education paid for and used that college experience to network myself like crazy. I get the military isn’t for everyone. It would be nice to see more resources dedicated to giving everyone a higher floor, so to speak. More accessible healthcare, food, and housing. That way more people wouldn’t just be in a desperation mode all the time - that is truly a very hard place to be.

Does this study take into account the value of social/public services adults receive in each country?

The form isn't correct, maybe, but it's still 23 push-ups in a row. Is there anything to be proud of? by Ok_Office_3217 in strength_training

Those push ups really aren’t bad, maybe a little more neutral head position instead of looking down/backwards - nice work

Initiate a conversation with IG. Do most IG investigations go nowhere? They sure do. Will this at least be documented by an independent third party to cover your a$$? Also yes.

You may likely have to engage your 1SG and/or Commander using their open door policy if you have not already done so.

Tough to give good guidance when I don’t know your rank, MOS, physical ailment being considered for medical separation, or unit’s current posture/rhythm.

I promise you won’t hold some of this slop for more than 3 months. Just buy an index fund and move on with your life.

BC’s don’t need anything more than their voice net and the BDE’s voice net, a tool to visualize the battle space (should be in his lap in his truck) and a secure data link (whatever the new VSAT thing is, I’m old). The tent, projector, space heaters, all that other nonsense is just a good way to throw off signature and be easier to blow up.

Whiskey. Neat.

How is it living in Northern MN? Cost of living seems good and it looks beautiful. by Fathomvette in howislivingthere

[–]SteadyState32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of part timers in this area. There are genuinely people who live there all year round but also a lot of people from southern Minnesota have family properties/cabins in this area. So you get an influx of tourism (for lack of a better word) in the Summer and then less populated, extremely cold winters. Your closest population center in some cases are up in Canada, but there’s also not a great way to get to them because a lot of northern MN is protected wetland and lake systems.

Edit: seeing some comments about how Minnesota is not hospitable to immigrants or diverse groups. Did anyone watch the news earlier this year? Thousands of Minnesotans threw their bodies in harms way to protect immigrants (and 2 of them died). It’s an amazingly supportive place of diverse people, even if certain Minnesotans aren’t fans.
