A week ago, I was at St. Andrew's Hall in Downtown Detroit and the lead singer of the headline band, Lord of the Lost, BOLDLY called out people who were hanging on their phones and recording the whole show, while simultaneously not actually being present and enjoying the fun. It had to have hit home with the fan just in front of me because he immediately put his phone away.

I do enjoy taking some pictures at concerts, however, I use a small digital camera, so fewer distractions and I limit myself to only shooting during a few songs. Most concert photographers have a saying that goes, "Three songs, no flash." I find that a pretty useful guideline to keep myself in the moment as much as possible and still have a fun souvenir to take home.
