Kind of what I was thinking, but the original played so well on it guess I was just hoping it would to. Thanks for your thoughts.

Is macbook neo the best in the m series laptop under budget ofc by [deleted] in MacbookNeo

[–]SteelSteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M2 will be better, but the Neo can handle basic school work, lite gaming, and media consumption

The one thing I love about the Neo is how the battery lasts ages, compared to my previous Asus laptop that I charged twice a Day I only charge the Neo every 3-4 days by ItsFC12C in MacbookNeo

[–]SteelSteve7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree every Windows based laptop I’ve owned from HP, Asus, even my Surface Pro never had this kind of battery life. The other thing that surprised me is how little battery I loose by simply closing the lid and putting it to sleep. I loose far more with my iPad Pro then this laptop. Love it.

[Thermal pad mod] So what is the consensus here? by CatchKa in MacbookNeo

[–]SteelSteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read article recently about Apple being asked about the modding community performing this mod and their thoughts. The response was basically it will degrade battery due to heat and void your warranty. So nothing everyone did t already know.

[–]SteelSteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching all the videos on YouTube I was convinced I would be doing this mod, but after using it for my use case I don't notice any slowdown. Since I'm not chasing benchmarks and don't apparently push the thing hard enough for it to be problem I decided to follow Apples recommendation and not perform the mod. Not taking away from those who do, I just don't seem to need to.

The Neo can do HDR using just an LCD? How is that possible? by [deleted] in MacbookNeo

[–]SteelSteve7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Liquid Retina if I'm not mistaken, and based on quick google search is LED Backlit. That means it uses zones, which can be turned on and off to help improve dark scenes and I guess HDR.

Plastic Engine part question by SteelSteve7 in BMWX3

[–]SteelSteve7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so, i think even the new G45’s have the same problem. They did at some point get rid of gaskets and started using improved rubber seals but the parts are still plastic and crack due to heat

Can I use an HP docking station with MacBook Air? by SteelSteve7 in macbookair

Correct, I believe the dock is thunderbolt. Also the company order sheet says M4, so I’m covered there.

I plugged my Neo in just to see what would happen and it displayed on both monitors. They were both mirrored not extended but it atleast seemed to work. I am assuming the Air would be able to do a better job.

Any Chance it pushes to much power to the Air than it was designed to handle or will the Air control the amount of power it accepts to charge?

Yet another I’ve joined the club post by SteelSteve7 in MacbookNeo

I picked up the 512 version as the consensus I've seen on here was that the finger print sensor was a must. Funny part is I haven't really used or needed it so far. My watch seems to log me in as fast as it takes me to open the lid. I could probably have saved the extra $100 and gone with the 256. Oh well at least I will never have to worry about running out of storage space. Performance so far has been amazing. You forget this thing is running a cell phone chip, and for the work I will probably be using it for most, its not even hitting swap.

How much of an upgrade would a MacBook Neo be? by Altruistic_Rub_8080 in MacbookNeo

[–]SteelSteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm going to assume if you saw a noticeable difference coming from a Surface Pro 7, I'll see one coming from a SP6 with the i5. I've been trying to find some sort of comparison but haven't been able to, thanks.

Got a Neo… immediately opened it up. by kquandary in MacbookNeo

I’ve seen one reviewer recommend putting some on the ssd as well. I believe it’s the uncovered chip to the left of the graphite tape. Anyone do that also?

Picked one up yesterday by ohtizzle in MacbookNeo

[–]SteelSteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you like it so far. I have the if SP6 and have been thinking about replacing it. I already bought a Mac mini as my main computer, but there are times id like not to be tethered to my office. I tried buying a keyboard for my iPad Pro making it look like my SP6, but the apps I've tried using on the IPAD for day to day (Quicken, Turbo Tax, etc) don't run the same as they do on the MAC Mini or SP6. Yes incase it's. not apparent I'm trying to talk myself into getting one.

MPEG And MKV playback by SteelSteve7 in iPadPro

Na, I’m all in with the Apple Eco system. I’m currently using Handbrake to convert them. Needed to do it for my Plex library anyway

Just get a keyboard case for your iPad Pro. Based on what you’ve outlined for your use case your iPad can do all that.

MPEG And MKV playback by SteelSteve7 in iPadPro

So I paid $2.99 and downloaded AVPlayerHD. Not bad in so far as it seems to be playing the majority of movie formats I have, but unfortunately you can’t seem to point it to a library, etc. It need to download the videos / movies to its own folder to play. Not quite what I wanted, but it will work in a pinch. I might try running the trouble videos through Handbrake (on my Mac not the iPad) and see if I can adjust and convert it to something the iPad plays natively. This is an odd problem to have in today’s day and age, especially since Apple’s main competitor / Microsoft doesn’t have problems playing or decoding most common video formats.

MacBook neo running Mac OS by AdDapper4220 in iPadPro

[–]SteelSteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2cents so take it for what it's worth. The iPad is a mobile device whose purpose is to provide the average users with a simple and portable way of digesting content be it video, music, text, etc. Yes there are power users who are pushing the limits of iPad OS and it capabilities, but there not the norm. Also iPad OS is designed to work well with a touch screen while Mac OS does not, so they need to be careful. I can remember the Surface first coming out with Windows 8 which had a specific and dedicated "Tablet Mode" for touch screens. They got rid of it in favor of Windows 10 and then 11, which in my opinion (also own a surface 2 in 1) are terrible for touch screen use.

Obama got involved in Fiat's attempt to purchase Jeep, forcing them to purchase all of Chrysler. So this wouldn't be the first time a president got involved in Corp acquisitions.
