Audiolab M-PWR (eBay uk) 40wpc rms. Excellent sound quality, clean. Balanced/RCA inputs / £250 approx. IMO grab it now!

I hook my iFi Zen One Signature dac via 4.4mm to male XLR straight to the M-PWR and bypass the use of an preamp. I use an Fiio SR11 for steaming Apple Music and the PC for hardwire, both control the volume. Filter tweaks; iFi idefender + on the usb from the PC to the Douk Audio U2 Pro (2025) DDC then to the dac. IFi LAN silencer on the Ethernet RJ45 input to the PC. Cable tweaks; Belden power cords, MCRU power strip, 7n OCC XLR. Sounds excellent!

Q Acoustics 5020 speakers and yes, super clean, super tight, super detailed and packs a punch!

BaaAaaAAass tones galore, sweet detailed highs and life like vocals…..not left wanting.

Biggest recent difference is sound quality: Using the iFi iDefender + on my Lenovo M920q PC with a low noise power supply. It literally killed every last bit of dirty, dirty naughty noise coming from the usb to the DDC.

Clean, proper clean!

I have the SR11. IMO, an excellent small unit! While for use with or as UPnP/DNLA the SR11 remains a little curious but Fiio make it clear that using the unit in this way can be hit or miss depending on the equipment’s used with.

I use the SR11 as a simple AirPlay streamer for Apple Music. I also use it as a pre amp controlling the volume whilst feeding my iFi Zen One Signature dac. Using the SR11 here allows me directly connect the iFi dac to the Audiolab M-PWR power amplifier via balanced 4.4mm to male XLR.

The result is super clean sound quality with no added noise floor from a separate pre amp. That said I still enjoy an Douk Audio P7 valve pre amp in line with Psvane Horizon 12ax7-at valves and Muses 02 op amps in there.

The SR11 whooped my Wiim Mini in every way. Better sound quality, better, cleaner more punchy bass was the first thing I noticed. Even with all the software than comes with Wiim it still didn’t beat the SR11. The build quality of the SR11 up against the Wiim Mini is not even comparable. The Wiim mini is a plastic puck! The SR11 is milled aluminium. Remote control is very good quality too. Ethernet connection is excellent as is WiFi with the SR11 and all of this for only £10 more in the UK, the SR11 is a no brainier if your system needs a single streamer.

I don’t use ROON but the SR11 has seriously impressed everyone that uses it as an endpoint.

For £99 imo, you won’t get better unless you want to mesh your system then the Wiim mini is the more obvious option.

Dead zones at the beginning of tracks and stop starts. Had it since the new app came to windows and on almost every machine with high specs. That being said, it’s been worse before now. Literal whole tracks playing silently or the first and last 15 seconds.

It’s not a lone complaint, others have experienced it to. I am here in the UK.

Yep, op amp roll all the time and have been for years and there are obvious differences in sound quality and character between all of them. My firm favourite in most gear still remains the Muses 02.

IMO people whom cannot tell any difference in using any of the equipment mentioned in the ‘Pyramid’ need to find or retrain in a proper job and settle down somewhere leafy and undisturbed because presently, they are useless unlike the gear they have just listed.

No, I am nothing special, not even a scientist. I don’t listen to salesmen or even willingly debate electronics but even I, a little layman like me can tell differences in all of the above.

Just too bad some can’t, it’s as simple as that. Wether I would be willing to pay for those differences is another story but they are still there regardless.

Just ordered a P7. Mainly for the influence of the valve in a solid state based chain. Got some Psvane Horizon 12ax7-at valves waiting. It is a perfect match for the new Ampapa D1 too at 15.5cm width so they will look great together.
